Partisan Primary Election on August 11
The Partisan Primary election will be held on Tuesday, August 11. In person voting takes place at The Prairie School (Johnson Athletic Center) from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Races on the ballot include primaries for U.S. Congress, State Assembly, District Attorney, County Clerk, County Treasurer and County Register of Deeds.  Click here to view a sample ballot .

Please note that in a partisan primary you may vote in only one party section. If you designate a party preference, votes cast in that party section will be counted; votes cast in any other party section will not be counted. If you do not designate a party preference, and you vote in more than one party, no votes will be counted.

Given the concerns with COVID-19, we are strongly encouraging voters to vote absentee. There are two ways to absentee vote.

Absentee Voting – by mail
Electors wishing to receive an absentee ballot by mail may do so by submitting an  Absentee Ballot Application  to the Village Office along with a copy of a valid photo ID. Absentee ballots need to be returned by 8:00 p.m. on election day in order to be counted. It generally takes 5-7 days for a ballot to arrive via the Post Office, so please plan accordingly when making your request. The last day to request an absentee ballot be mailed to you for this election is Thursday, August 6 at 5 p.m.

Absentee Voting – in-person
In-person absentee voting is available at the Village Office now through Friday, August 7 during normal business hours, Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are offering drive up service for in-person absentee voting. You can vote by pulling your car up to the blue tent located at the back entrance of the Village Office. Once you have arrived, a staff member will come out to help you vote. You will not have to leave your vehicle. Please make sure to bring a copy of you photo ID with you.
Voter Registration
If you need to register to vote you can do so at the Village Office, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You can also register to vote at the polls on election day. To register, please complete the Wisconsin Voter Registration Application and bring the form with you, along with an acceptable proof of residency document. If you are unsure of your registration status, go to the My Vote Wisconsin website.

If you have any questions or concerns about voting please contact the Village Office at 262-639-3524.
Road Construction- Lake Meadow Drive
The Village will be repaving Lake Meadow Drive from Lighthouse Drive to Main Street. The work will include removing the top portion of the road’s existing pavement and paving the road with new asphalt. Drainage improvement work will also be done in the ditch areas along Pinewood and Sprucewood Courts.

The schedule for the work is:

  • Week of August 3: Removing existing road surface and prep for new asphalt.
  • Week of August 10: Adjusting manhole covers and paving.
  • Week of August 17: Shouldering and lane striping

Please note that this schedule is weather dependent and may change. The contractor and Village have been in contact with representatives from the Prairie School regarding traffic concerns. The Village hopes to have the majority of the road work completed before school begins on August 18.

There will be no permanent road closures during the work however, due to construction crews on the road, there may be some travel delays, so please plan accordingly. There will also be a week of time between the removal of the existing pavement and repaving, where the road will be rough. We ask for your patience when traveling the road and urge caution when driving through the construction zone.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Village Office at 262-639-3524 or email info@windpoint.org.
Public Hearing- Wind Point School Project
On July 8, the Plan Commission recommended approval of Newport Development's requests to amend the Village’s comprehensive plan and rezone the former school property from an Institutional to Multi-Family zoning classification. The Village Board will hold public hearings on the requests on Thursday, August 13 at 5:30 p.m.

The public hearing will be an official opportunity for Village residents to speak about the proposed project. At the conclusion of the public hearing, the Village Board will discuss and act on the requests. Approval of the two requests will be the first step in the process to allow for Newport Development to construct 40 twindiminum units on the property. The developer will still be required to receive design approval of the proposed buildings from the Village’s Architectural Review Board and will need to have the site, grading and stormwater management plan approved by the Village. To view the public hearing notices please  click here.

Due to the need for additional space and social distancing, the public hearings will be held at the Caledonia Village Hall, 5043 Chester Lane, located just off of Four Mile Road, next to Crawford Park and behind the Douglas Avenue Pick n’ Save. If you plan to attend in person, please wear a mask. The meeting will be held virtually via Cisco WebEx Meetings. Information on how to access the meeting virtually is below.

Lighthouse Shoreline Protection Work
Vassh Excavating recently completed work to stabilize and protect the shoreline at the Wind Point Lighthouse grounds.

The work was done to repair an area of the shoreline that had been damaged and was under threat from further erosion due to the high water levels of Lake Michigan. The new revetment will help keep the Lighthouse shoreline stable and will prevent further erosion.

Vassh donated labor and equipment for the project, resulting in a significant savings for the Village. The Village is extremely grateful for the generosity and work of Vassh Excavating to help with this project.
