Fun fact: At this time in 210 B.C., the first emperor of Qin was - unbeknownst to him - near the end of his fifth and final tour of the realm.

Having traveled through modern-day Hubei, Hunan, Anhui, Zhejiang, and Jiangsu Provinces, he fell ill in Pingyuan Ford 平原津 (modern NW Shandong Province). On September 10th, 210 B.C., the first man to unify China passed away in Shaqiu 沙丘, now Xingtai City 邢台市 in Hebei Province.

The cause of death is still debated. Some say that he was poisoned by the mercury he consumed in order to achieve eternal life. Be careful what you wish for...

  • The U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) imposed further restrictions on Huawei Technologies and added an additional 38 affiliates to the Entity List. In a recent law alert, Porter Wright explains the implication of these changes and encourages export businesses to vigorously examine their own program to ensure export compliance.

Cross-Cultural Communication in Creative Contexts
On July 22, 2020, the Greater Columbus Chinese Chamber of Commerce welcomed an expert panel to discuss US-China cross-cultural communication in the creation and interpretation of artistic works.

Investing in the PRC Senior Living Industry 中国康养市场:市场分析与机会
On August 18th, the Greater Columbus Chinese Chamber of Commerce was honored to have Lai Shili, owner of Yibaijia Co., Ltd. and Sunny Yang, attorney at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, share their knowledge and experience related to investing in the senior living industry in China.

This one-hour Chinese language webinar was followed by small-group networking. Watch a recording of the presentation and Q&A portion of the event here.

9/22/20 Fall Networking: Alumni of central and northeast Ohio higher education working in/with Greater China
The Greater Columbus Chinese Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with the Cleveland Chinese Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio State University China Gateway Office, and Case Western University to host this unique time-zone-crossing networking event.
Anyone affiliated with any college/university in central Ohio or northeast Ohio and is interested in, working in, or from the Chinese-speaking world is welcome to register for this virtual networking event.

Attendees will be randomly placed in virtual breakout rooms, and attendees' contact information will be shared by email after the event to facilitate further dialogue.

8/27/20 US Together's Annual Taste of Columbus
The 46th annual International Taste of Columbus will be a virtual, live-streamed event at 5:30 pm ET on August 27. The theme of this year’s event is “Dumplings of the World,” and it will be live-cast on US Together’s Facebook Page.


The International Taste of Columbus is hosted each year to promote international understanding through intercultural experiences. It is a cultural and educational event that brings community members closer together and raises funds for US Together’s charitable causes.
