Ripples Raised $30,251.35 for Calm Waters!
Ripples of Hope, Calm Waters' second annual breakfast benefit turned virtual event on August 25 raised more than $30,000! Thank you to our keynote speaker, Sara Sweet and all of our Ripples of Hope sponsors, ticket holders and silent auction winners. You helped raise much needed funds that will support Calm Waters' year-round grief and divorce support groups at our Center, virtual student support groups and the counseling clinic!

The event didn't quite meet the fundraising goal and we invite each Calm Waters Supporter to consider making a donation today to ensure Calm Waters programs future success. Remember, each $100 gift between Tuesday and Friday at midnight has a chance to win a $175 Restaurant Gift Card!

Calm Waters Wins the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health Award!
A $15,000 Grant!
As the overall winner of the 2020 Champions of Health Awards, Calm Waters will receive a $15,000 grant, and winners in remaining categories receive a $5,000 grant.

Presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK), the 17 annual Champions of Health Awards will honor individuals and organizations working to improve the health of Oklahomans.

“The Champions of Health Awards is a celebration of those making a positive impact on the health of our state through innovative programs, while supporting the vital preventive care services the Oklahoma Caring Foundation provides,” said BCBSOK President Joseph R. Cunningham, M.D. “I’m excited for Terry Bradshaw to join us virtually. I look forward to hearing about his illustrious career, his life in Oklahoma, and his personal health journey.”

Calm Waters Center for Children and Families, an Oklahoma City-based non-profit organization that helps children and families in their grief journey caused by death, divorce, or other significant loss, is the recipient of the Dr. Rodney L. Huey Memorial Champion of Oklahoma Health, the highest honor of the Champions of Health Awards. Calm Waters is being honored for its annual Camp Courage program, which provides a safe and healing environment for children to express their feelings of loss through art.
Thursday Evening Volunteers Needed
Volunteer Training | Sept. 11, 9AM - 1PM
Calm Waters is in need of 8 new volunteer facilitators for the August through December 2020 support group sessions. The time commitment is two Thursdays a month, from 6 to 8 PM and you have the choice of working with children, 3 to 12, teens or adults.

Virtual Student Support Groups Begin September 14,
Sign Up Now!
Calm Waters’ FREE, 6-week Virtual Student Support Groups are open to any child, Pre-K to 12 who has experienced loss due to:

  1. Death
  2. Divorce
  3. Foster Care & Adoption
  4. Military Deployment
  5. Incarceration
  6. Deportation

Due to COVID-19 and evolving school schedules, ALL Calm Waters Student Support Groups are virtual until further notice. When schools are fully open, Calm Waters will once again offer in-person support groups at our many partner schools across the greater OKC metro area.

The continued goal of student support groups is to teach children coping skills that they will utilize for the rest of their lives.

Important Support Group Dates:
Series 1 begins the week of September 14 and ends the week of October 19, 2020.
  • Series 1 enrollment opens August 11 and closes September 25, 2020.
Series 2 begins the week of October 26 and ends the week of December 7, 2020.
  • Series 2 enrollment opens September 28 and closes November 6, 2020.
