California Arts Council Grant Opportunity

The Center for Cultural Innovation (CCI), partnering as an Administering Organization for the California Arts Council, announced today the opening of the California Relief Fund for Artists and Cultural Practitioners. This opportunity is for artists and cultural practitioners who need financial help as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a federally recognized qualified disaster. Grants will be distributed to reflect the cultural and geographic diversity of the state of California - including those who are of historically underserved communities who are especially vulnerable financially due to this economic crisis.

Award amount is $1,000 in unrestricted relief funding for California's individual artists and cultural workers.The application deadline for the California Relief Fund for Artists and Cultural Practitioners is Tuesday, August 18 at 3 p.m. PDT. For more information and to apply, click here.
Calling All Artists

Are you a visual artist, musician, ceramist, poet, writer, filmmaker, actor, dancer, jewelry designer, woodworker, or fashion designer?

ICA is looking to feature local artists in our newsletter and on social media!

What we need:
- 2 photos of your work/performance/album cover/book cover
- Bio that is no more than 200 words
- Online presence links for audience to follow


Photos: JPG or PNG – well-lit, no reflections, unnecessary elements cropped out.
Smallest dimension: 800px

Bio note: up to 200 words (what you do, your past work, what you are most proud of) Format: Word, Google doc, or plain text in the body of email

Online presence: Link to your website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud, Patreon, etc. Ways people can follow your work, commission, or buy work.

Artists will be featured in order in which their documentation is received. Submissions are published at Inyo Council for the Arts’ discretion. 
Mono Arts Council: Art & Wine Classes
Our friends at Mono Arts Council are hosting some Art & Wine classes this month!

The first class is August 14th, 5:30pm-8:30pm, with Miguel Flores for Acrylic painting ONLINE! Mono Arts Council is really excited to be offering such an accessible way to continue making art from your own home. Miguel is an amazing teacher, and they'd love for you to experience this fun class! Head to the online store to purchase the class for $15, AND if you need any art supplies for the class, you can easily add them to your shopping cart! Mono Arts Council will make sure you get the supplies, whatever they may be, in time for the class; pick up/drop off options are available.
The second class in August is actually TWO different're welcome to take one OR both! $50 for one class, and a discounted $90 for both days! All supplies are provided for you!
Wednesday and Thursday, August 19th and 20th, from 9AM to 12PM Noon, will be painting with watercolors outside for our Plein Air Series! Heidi Goodwin will be leading the classes both days and Mono Arts Council is excited to be offering this during these challenging times. The class is limited to 8 people; physical distancing and masks will be mandatory for the entire class. Keep in mind: if you are unable to wear your mask for the length of the class, the online class may be better suited for you! Click here to purchase one OR both of these classes!

C5 Studios: Gallery Hours & Online Classes
C5 Studios Community Arts Center has recently reopened following their closure due to Covid-19. In the first phase of opening, they are focusing on welcoming you back to their gallery, gift store, and artist studios.

During this challenging time, C5 is also delighted to bring you C5 at Home, their program of online offerings so people can create even when they are apart!

TriCounty Fairgrounds Drive-In Theater
The TriCounty Fairgrounds will be hosting another weekend of the Drive-In Movie Series! Smokey and the Bandit will be showing on Friday, August 14th, and The Goonies will be showing on Saturday, August 15th. Gates open at 7pm, and the movie begins at 8:30pm both nights.

You must watch the movie from your vehicle. You may sit in the back of your truck but must wear a mask if outside of your vehicle.

This event will help many local businesses. Food will be available for purchase from some of your local favorites. Popcorn and candy will also be available from the Bishop Theatre! For more details, check out the Tri-County Fairgrounds website and Facebook page!
