LAA GENERAL MEMBER MEETINGS
We’re thrilled to announce that beginning with our season opening meeting on Tuesday evening, September 21 at 6:30 pm, all LAA General Member Meetings will be held in the Activities Room at Thrive on Skidaway.
Located on the corner of Diamond Causeway and 5 Lake Street on Skidaway Island, this brand new community is a wonderful location and beautiful setting for our monthly meetings to meet and greet and enjoy an artistic guest speaker demonstration.
NOTE: This location will replace meetings at Skidaway Island Presbyterian Church. With the exception of December, June, July, and August, all LAA General Member Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month beginning at 6:30 pm with a meet and greet, followed by a short business meeting, and ending at approximately 8:30 pm after an artistic presentation by an informative guest speaker.

INTRODUCING
THE LAA/THRIVE THEMED GALLERY
Beginning with intake on Wednesday, October 6 from 9-11, the LAA is pleased to call Thrive our new home for art.
We’re calling this a Themed Gallery because it will highlight art based on local Georgia scenes such as water, wildlife, history, business, and architecture.*
All art will remain on display for a three-month period until the next quarterly intake.
Every quarter Thrive will host an Opening Night Reception with an early reveal for LAA members from 5-6 pm and open to Thrive residents and the general public from 6-7 pm.
Intake/Opening Reception Dates: October 6; January 5; April 6; July 6. Please mark your calendars and watch your Newsletter for further details.
*LAA and Thrive retains the option to refuse any subject matter it deems inappropriate.

THE LAA ANNUAL SPRING ART SHOW AND SILENT AUCTION
Our premiere judged event of the year is scheduled for Monday, April 11 with intake on Sunday, April 10 at the Landings Club’s Palmetto Ballroom. We are fortunate to have Debbie Wurzel chairing this wonderful Springtime event. Please mark your calendars and look for further details to follow.

LAA WORKSHOP NEWS
Workshop Co-Chairs, Gail Siegel and Pat Lamar, have some great classes in the works for LAA members. Before schedules are firmed up, they’d appreciate hearing from members as to which mediums and subject matter would be of special interest. Please email your suggestions to Gail [email protected] or Pat [email protected]

THANK YOU
A huge THANK YOU goes out to Board Member Jim Guerard for the effort he put forth to get all the spotlights in our Palmetto Gallery changed out to new LED bulbs (5000 kelvin – which is the temperature to best simulate natural daylight). Now the Gallery has optimal lighting on both sides of the wall. This will be a significant improvement and should do a much better job of presenting our artwork.

PLEASE NOTE
It’s been a rough year and a half trying to plan LAA events and we appreciate our member’s patience wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, there is still a bit of news on the horizon concerning several of our galleries and events. The LAA Board is doing everything in its power to remedy these situations and create new and exciting activities for all our members. Please bear with us and note the following…
LAA/MERRILL ATRIUM GALLERY
Intake cancelled until further notice. Watch your Newsletter for further details. Should you have a piece currently hanging and need to remove it, please feel free to do so Monday through Friday between 10-2.
LAA/SOUND VIEW KRINGLE MARKET
Due to circumstances beyond our control, 2021’s Kringle Market has been postponed until further notice. Watch your Newsletter for further details.
THE LAA FALL SIDEWALK FESTIVAL IN THE VILLAGE
Special event liability insurance issues concerning large group gatherings and covid has forced us to cancel our annual Fall Sidewalk Festival in the Skidaway Island Village this year. Hopefully, things will change, and we can hold it next year!
LAA GALLERY at the LANDINGS COMPANY
The Landings Company offices will soon be undergoing major renovations which will necessitate the LAA’s Gallery being removed from the building until further notice.
