Message from Superintendent Gina Sudaria
Ravenswood Community,

This time of year stirs up such a mix of excitement and nerves for all of us.
As a parent, my baby boy starts high school this fall (how did he get so big so quickly?). And while I’m anxious about this big new step for him, I’m also filled with gratitude for the educators and staff who will be welcoming and caring for him in his new school.

As educators, we are so eager to meet our new and returning students, and have spent the summer getting ready to make sure each Ravenswood child can fly this year, as we finally all come back together again in person.

We all feel more anxiety than usual this year, given the pandemic and the constant disruptions of the past year and a half. But I want to assure you: WE ARE READY, and WE CAN DO THIS!

Our staff have been training and preparing to ensure that your child will be known, loved and supported this year. We want every Ravenswood student to feel like school is a home place, where they have the backing they need to learn, persevere, and change the world!

We will also keep your child safe. Most staff are vaccinated, everyone on campus will be masked, and we have air purifiers in every classroom. We are offering free weekly COVID testing for students and staff, to catch positive cases before they can spread. Students will be washing hands and sanitizing regularly, and will be distanced during lunch when they take masks off to eat. These are just a few of our safety precautions… for more details, see our full COVID Safety Plan (which follows the state and county’s latest guidelines). Please also check out our back to school video to see more about what to expect.

We are very proud that this summer, as the Delta variant started to surge, we had over 500 students at three schools all day for five weeks... without a positive case or any spread at school. Keeping our children, staff and community safe is a team effort - we can do it!

So please get to bed early, set your alarm clocks, and get your children ready for an exciting day on Wednesday. We can’t wait to see them!
With joy and gratitude,

Gina

Antiracism in Ravenswood schools
This week, Dr. Bettina Love is talking with all Ravenswood staff about how to rethink our educational system. Together, we are digging into culturally responsive teaching practices, understanding the impact of racism on Black children and families, and exploring how to use the methods of anti-slavery abolitionists to bring social justice into our classrooms and schools. If you don’t know Dr. Love’s work, check out this 20 minute interview.

Ravenswood is committed to being an antiracist school system and community, where all students are thriving, not simply surviving!

Enroll Your Child Today!
We are enrolling students in grades TK-8 for this fall! If you have not yet registered your child, please call 650-384-7797 or email [email protected]
Sign up for transportation
If your child needs a ride to get to school, please click here to request transportation. Please fill it out as soon as possible, so we can plan our bus routes.
Free COVID Testing
COVID testing is an important way for us to catch positive cases before they can spread in our community.

We are asking families to give us permission to give your child a quick weekly COVID test. It's painless and easy, even for our youngest students (see for yourself).  There is no cost to parents, and we’ll get the results the same day. Click here for more information

Please sign and return a permission slip so we can test your child. We’ll send the permission slip home and also have them at pickup / dropoff. If you already signed a form last spring or summer, we can start testing your child this fall, but we still need you to sign the new permission slip so we can test throughout the year.

Thanks for helping us slow the spread of COVID!
