Mr. Brian La Roche is an experienced Human Resource Practitioner who specializes in Employment and Industrial Relations Management.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Labour Relations from the National Labour College in Maryland USA, a certificate in Human Resource Management specializing in Recruitment Management and an advanced certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Windsor, Canada.
Mr. La Roche’s skills are wide ranging and include Industrial Relations, Grievance Handling, Human Resource Management Policy Design and Implementation, Occupational Safety and Health Management, Recruitment Management and Alternative Dispute Coaching. He has led negotiations and made representation on behalf of many clients and has dealt with various Unions at both the Ministry of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprises, and the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago.
His longstanding affiliation with the Society began when he joined the PSCU family on 9th August, 1991 and his subsequent election to the Education Committee. While on this Committee, he pioneered the skill building classes for our members, planning and executing their implementation. Whilst a member of the Education committee, he was elected to represent the Society on the North West Regional Chapter where he served as both Chairman and Secretary over the period which he served.
Mr. La Roche represented PSCU on the Supervisory Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Credit Union League. He also went on to serve on the PSCU’s Credit Committee and was the secretary of that committee for some time.
Mr. La Roche spent twenty-six years in the public sector at both the Judiciary and the Office of the Ombudsman, the latter for over twenty years. While at the Office of the Ombudsman, he was seconded to the PSA as an Industrial Relations Officer, a position which he held for five years. It was during this period that he was first elected to the Board of Directors of the PSCU and he served as Secretary to the Board of Directors and also held positions of Chairman and Secretary of the Human Resource Committee.
Mr. La Roche retired from the public service in 2002 and went on to work in the private sector. He was the Manager Operations and Industrial Relations at Angostura Limited before taking early retirement in 2017 and starting his own Industrial Relations Consultancy Company.
He is a former Chairman for the Industrial Relations Committee of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. La Roche believes in the Credit Union philosophy and continues to support the movement, advising several Credit Unions in the areas of Human Resources and Industrial Relations.
