Hello fellow Chamber members. We hope that you’re enjoying the beautiful, albeit hot at times, summer in Lisle and the surrounding areas. Summer is always a special time in the Lisle area with so many unique events, activities, and places to attend. Whether you’re walking through Community Park, exploring the French Market, or utilizing one of the many local parks, there is always something to bring you outside and near to your fellow residents and community members.
We at the Chamber are enjoying the nicer weather and seeing so many friends and colleagues out and about enjoying the local parks, and downtown Lisle. We were thrilled to see so many familiar faces recently at our last two in person ribbon cuttings and hope to continue to welcome new businesses to our area.
A big thank you to all who helped plan, sponsor, and participate in our Annual Golf Outing at Seven Bridges Golf Club. While we were not able to have all the games and volunteers this year, we still had a good showing and lots of fun while raising some money for our various causes within the Chamber.
Coming up in August we have our LINCT meeting on August 17th at 3:00pm at Wheatstack in Lisle. If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP to Claudine via email at [email protected]. We will also have an in-person meeting of our Ambassador Committee at the Chamber offices (925 Burlington Ave) on August 27th at 8:00am. There will also be 1st Birthday Party & Ribbon Cutting for DPG Real Estate on August 28th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with the ribbon being cut at 5:15 pm. I encourage all members to attend a meeting or two, and I hope to see you at a meeting or event as the summer continues.
We wish you a happy rest of your summer and hope that you get out and enjoy the weather while we have it. We all know that before we blink fall, and then winter will be here bringing their beauty and uniqueness to the area.

How are you setting up your businesses for the return from the remote and hybrid workplace? Many will say my employees never were able to work remotely since in person was the only option for say retail, restaurants, health, and service industries. There are plenty of jobs openings in the service industry but businesses are finding it hard to attract workers. The Chamber office is located at Lisle Village Hall and right outside is the Burlington Northern train station. For 13 months I have counted how many cars are in the parking lot when I am at the stop sign. And it’s been the same 10 cars until this past month. I am guessing there are at least 30 cars there now (I am at a stop sign and can’t count as fast with more cars). So people either were working remotely or driving downtown to their offices or had been furloughed. The tech companies I have heard will offer their employees the option of working in the office 3 days a week and will work from home the other 2 days. Each business in every industry will have to evaluate what is best for them and their employees. I would love to know what you have planned for your business. Music was back at the Lisle Park District Community Park this summer. The Lisle Community Band was also back and music in the park was so enjoyable with the summer breeze and beautiful music and nature. I have to say I really missed this great summer activity. Kiwanis Club Downtown Lisle Car Show has a couple more shows left on August 28th and September 25th. Chamber member, Debbie Pawlowicz of DPG Realty will host her 1st Birthday Party and Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, August 28th and you can stay for the car show too. Frida Fridays also continue on Main Street. And, don't miss the Lisle French Market which has every vendor spot is filled. The French Market is Saturdays, 8:00am – 1:00pm at Prairie Walk Pond located in Downtown Lisle.
The 2021-2022 Membership Directory and Community Profile is in full swing. Claudine will be reaching out to verify your business information. Also, Town Square Publications, will be calling you for the opportunity to place an ad in the upcoming directory that is delivered door to door to 8,500 single family homes in Lisle. You can also find the directories at French Market, Lisle Village Hall, Lisle Park District, Lisle Savings Bank, Lisle Township, Lisle Library and of course the online version on our website, www.lislechamber.com

Jim Dhamer Plumbing & Sewer, Inc has proudly served Lisle and the surrounding communities since 1974. We are family owned & operated and a long time member of the BBB & Lisle Area Chamber. Our Illinois state licensed plumbers are a mix of family members & long time employees who are dedicated, knowledgeable, and experienced. We service and install water heaters, sump pumps, battery back up systems, correct drain problems, power rod & repair sewer lines and drains, perform backflow testing, and offer fixture replacement & more.
Advances in plumbing technology have certainly helped us diagnose & correct sewer problems as we can run a camera through most sewer lines. We also offer a WiFi module that can be installed on your sump pump to alert you directly to your phone of water or failure. While 2020-2021 brought many challenges for all with the Covid-19 pandemic, as an essential business, we remained opened normal hours ready to serve our customers. Our employees have followed the CDC recommended guidelines throughout.
We are looking forward to 2024 when we celebrate 50 years in business!

Kristina Irvine

Kristina Irvine of the IRVINE Group at john greene Realtor is this month's featured Ambassador. Kristina has been a Lisle Area Chamber member for over 2 years. In addition to the Ambassador Committee, she has been involved with the Ale Fest, Golf, LINCT (previous Chair), and Lisle Uncorked Committees.
Kristina is the Team Lead and Broker with the IRVINE Group at john greene Realtor. She creates and enforces systems and processes to make sure their clients have a Disneyland Real Estate experience. She has been in this field over 2 and half years, but she has done enough volume in that 2 and half years to have decades of experience.
Her life is kept fun and cuddly with her 150lb, 6 year old Great Dane rescue named Mx, a 60 lb Brindle rescue named Venti, and a 1 year old kitty named Cyrus. Kristina suggests "The Go Giver" which is an incredible fast and easy read. She recommends it to all. Living these principles in her business has made all the difference in her results, her joy and her client experience.

Ribbon Cutting - Poundcake Bakery |

Poundcake Bakery recently moved and opened a new location in downtown Lisle on Main Street. They celebrated their new location with a Ribbon Cutting on Friday, July 23rd. Poundcake Bakery moved a few doors down to expand their business. Their new location is at 4730 Main Street, Lisle.
Poundcake Bakery offers a wide variety of yummy pound cakes in standard and special flavors available in store and online. In addition to their pound cake selection, they also offer in store a delectable selection of muffins, scones, cookies, coffee, fruit butters and more. The pound cakes and additional offerings are available for special events, gift baskets and holidays.

At the Ribbon Cutting, Poundcake Bakery donated a check for $100.00 to Liz McSpadden for Light Up Illinois, to light up the Chicago Skyline in October with the colors of METAvivor to raise awareness for the critical need for Stage IV research.
Poundcake Bakery is a supporter of METAvivor, an organization dedicated to Stage IV Breast Cancer Research. They donate 4% of pie sales to support this effort in honor of owner, Bev Hudson's daughter Liz McSpadden.

Over 13 years in the making, the Lisle Park District public boat launch in Community Park is under construction and should be completed within the next few weeks. Located immediately south of Short Street on the west side of the East Branch of the DuPage River adjacent to the baseball field parking lot, this public launch is free to the public.
A Ribbon Cutting is scheduled for Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:00 am and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
