The Piedmont Community Band has enjoyed continued rehearsals this summer, and we are looking forward to scheduling a concert this fall.
We have had nine rehearsals and one live performance since we returned from our COVID hiatus. In that time, we have gone from a collection of individual musicians to a band. This distinction may not seem important, but there is such a difference. A recording from our second week of rehearsals reflects a group of talented musicians playing in the same room but not quite finding one another. A recording from our August 1 rehearsal reveals that the band members have found each other. Talented players have come together to form an ensemble. We can credit great chemistry in the relationships we’ve formed in and among our sections. We are also greatly indebted to our conductor, Chiara Head. Her knowledge of music and ability to balance the ensemble have brought the musicians together. We are now a band!
If you play a band instrument, or played one in the past, and would like to get back to it,
we invite you to join us on Sunday nights from 6:30-8:30 in the sanctuary at Culpeper Baptist Church. We welcome all players from middle school to adult and all abilities from beginner to professional. The supportive environment we’ve created provides opportunities for mentoring and growth.
