SGS Needs Board Members
SGS is in dire need of board members. We are down to 4 members, and that is a problem - each member is currently handling multiple jobs, and there's nobody to pick up the slack if one of us cannot do our jobs. If you have skills that can help us out, please consider joining the board. Some of the skills we need are:
  • Legal Expertise
  • Program Director
  • Guitar donation pickup, storage & inventory

Blue Monk Variations
Sean O'Connor is bringing us a swingin' tune this month, called "Blue Monk Variations." It is based on Thelonius Monk's "Blue Monk" and arranged for guitar trio. This song starts off with a jazzy swing groove, then transitions to many different modes, textures, and rhythms. We hope you enjoy the song! If you're feeling up for the challenge, click the link below to get the sheet music and play along.
Orchestra Rehearsals Resuming
It's almost time! Rehearsals for the Sacramento and Davis Community Guitar Orchestras are set to resume this month, so grab your guitar and get ready to play!

If you are already a member of one of the orchestras, your respective orchestra leader will have sent out an email about when the next rehearsal will be and recommendations for what to bring.

If you are not already a member of the orchestra and want to join, click the image above or the button below to fill out our orchestra candidate form. Note that the orchestra meets in-person, so please consider your transportation needs accordingly.
Guitar Certification Program
Are you an expert guitarist who wants to help the next generation of guitarists grow? SGS wants to create a certification program to encourage guitarists in the community to grow their skills and reach for mastery. Please click the link below to send a short email to SGS leadership about how you can help us with creating this program.
The Sacramento Guitar Society has partnered with another nonprofit organization, Guitars4Vets, to help our Veterans with Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) achieve healing thru the power of music.

Thanks to a grant from the California Art Council, we are able to extend the private guitar lessons they receive from Guitars4Vets by an additional 10 weeks. But these grants require matching donations from our community. Read more here and donate for this GREAT cause.
Keep the Music Going
Have you been enjoying watching or participating in the Virtual Guitar Orchestra concerts? The Sacramento Guitar Society's Community Guitar Orchestras are funded by the Artists in Communities grant from the California Arts Council.

This grant requires matching funds in order for us to maintain eligibility, so please consider making a donation. The grant helps us offer the Virtual Guitar Orchestra program and will and ensure that the in-person orchestras return when the pandemic is over. Your donations are tax-deductible.
