CBC would like to recognize SAMHSA and the New York State Health Foundation (NYSHealth) for funding all featured trainings this month, and its partnership with the NYS Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare, which is also made possible through SAMHSA funding.

All featured trainings are hosted via McSilver Institute's website and require a username and password to register. If you don't already have a username and password for McSilver's website, you can easily create one!
Managing Anxiety Connected to Reopening Group

This group is geared to those in the midst of returning to more "normal" routines following the safely distanced work and socialization of the past year. We'll review the lingering effects of prolonged isolation and anxiety participants may continue to experience throughout this transition and participants will be encouraged to share their particular challenges and observations to normalize and facilitate the process.
Grief During the Pandemic Group

This group aims to assist those who lost loved ones and friends during the pandemic. We'll review the grieving process and some aspects of loss unique to current circumstances, and encourage participants to share their own experiences. Normalizing the pain of grief and the transition to an internalized relationship with the deceased will likely become a primary focus of the group.
Beginner Kripalu Yoga

Beginner Kripalu Yoga is accessible and enlivening. Participants are guided through foundational postures and practice breathing techniques with clear instruction and at a steady pace. This class is perfect for anyone starting out their yoga journey, as well as those revisiting fundamentals.
Innovative and Engaging Total Wellness Activities

The pandemic has forced organizations to reconsider how they think about and promote employee wellness. This workshop presents a variety of initiatives that have successfully engaged staff this past year. Ideas range from scavenger hunts that encourage staff to build camaraderie outside of work-related tasks; CEO/CFO fireside chats and Town Halls that provide staff an opportunity to connect with and ask questions of management; and “Thank You” campaigns that explicitly acknowledge staff for their hard work and dedication during the pandemic.
Gentle Kripalu Yoga

Suitable for beginners and seasoned practitioners alike, gentle Kripalu Yoga classes are meditative, fluid and soothing. Experience slow movements to warm the body and release muscular tension, breathing techniques to calm the nervous system and simple postures to build stability.
How to Promote Staff Wellness

Easy challenges can make small but significant differences in people’s lives. This workshop will focus on how Cazenovia Recovery promotes staff wellness via simple tests that focus on heart-health activities, nutrition, gratitude and other topics. Encouraging staff to complete health- and wellness-related tasks for points can be fun and incentives like wellness debit cards provide tangible rewards for purposeful progress.
Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of "alternative medicine" for energy healing. Practitioners use a "hands-on healing" technique through which a "universal energy" is thought to be transferred through the practitioner's palms to encourage emotional or physical healing. In this training, participants will learn the benefits of Reiki and how to activate and sense energy within themselves for healing during difficult times.
Long-Term COVID-19 Symptom Support Group

An unfortunate subset of COVID-19 survivors have yet to make a full and complete recovery—some are still burdened with lingering symptoms or an exacerbation of pre-existing comorbid conditions. This compromised functioning has taken a toll both physically and emotionally. The aim of the group is to validate the frustration and discomfort these folks may be experiencing and help them cope effectively as they continue their recovery. The group will combine psychoeducational learning with facilitated group discussion and sharing.
Stronger Together: An Action Plan for a DEIB Culture

Horizon’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging team has spearheaded a “Stronger Together” campaign that has become a pillar of support for staff’s mental health needs by confronting institutional racism through the cultivation of a new era of awareness, civility, respect, understanding and inclusion in the workplace and community. This workshop presents their initiatives of the past year—ranging from anti-racism and social justice book clubs to topical panel discussions with staff.
