Special Areas Reminders
As you assign evaluations for the new academic year, any school counselor on a Formative or Summative evaluation must complete the School Counselor Plan, including conferences and signatures, in order to complete their evaluation for the year.
Please note the Student Growth Goal (SGG) serves as the Goals Based Evaluation (GBE) for those educators on GBE evaluations. SCLead.org will not allow the counselor’s record to be marked complete without the required SGG and conference signatures. Our Special Areas ADEPT 2020 webpage has been updated with several new and relevant materials. Please check them out on the website
FAQs
1.An educator had an incomplete evaluation last year, what evaluation and contract level should the educator be placed in 2022–23?
Per ADEPT Regulation Paragraph VI. B. “Teachers whose ADEPT results are reported to the SCDE as “incomplete” are eligible to repeat their contract level during the next year of employment.”

2.We have a National Board-Certified teacher whose SC Teaching Certificate renews every 10 years. When should the teacher be placed on Continuing Formative?
According to ADEPT Contract Levels and Evaluations 2018, “All classroom-based continuing contract teachers will undergo a comprehensive evaluation during their year of recertification.. . . National Board-Certified teachers must receive comprehensive evaluations at least once every 5 years, even if their South Carolina recertification is less frequent.”
