Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties
Catch-A-Pig 5K
Sun., August 21
8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
MA & PA Heritage Trail
Harford Mutual is a sponsor of the upcoming Catch-A-Pig 5K and Fun Walk benefiting The Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties. The event is a family friendly run and walk for all ages, supporting a good cause!
Here’s the CATCH – it’s a CHASE! The “pigs,” children 12 and under, get a head start on the race. After three minutes, registered runners try to “catch” the pigs by passing them along the route. But look out! Seven minutes later, the “wolves” are released! The wolves are local running scholars who are out to pass everybody. As long as you pass at least one pig and not get passed by all the wolves, you’re eligible to win prizes from running stores, restaurants, breweries, and more.
Harford Mutual has 5 Race Entries! Please send your name to Emily Cavey by Thursday, August 11 to be entered in a drawing to participate. LEARN MORE

Volunteer Spotlight
#HMIGgivesback
Each month we will be highlighting employees who give back to their communities.
This month, we want to recognize Jessica Smith (L) and Meredith Johnson (R)! Last month, Jessica and Meredith helped The Harford Center assemble new furniture.
In 1961, Meredith's great-grandparents started The Harford Center in their living room to address a need in the community. Thank you both for volunteering and giving back!

Harford Family House
Home Runs for the Homeless
Harford Mutual was proud to once again be the presenting sponsor of this year's Home Runs for the Homeless benefiting Harford Family House.
Our two HMIG teams knocked it out of the park! With 255 points (the highest women's score of the day) -- Allison Pomroy took home the coveted Georgia Peach award! Congratulations!
DJ Gargano hit another homer this year – and HFH board member Frank Kellner -- nicknamed “Special K” for his ability to strike out even the most determined batters – showed off his pitching skills! Congrats to all of our batters -- Brittany, Nicholas, Donna, Matthew, Chrissy, and Zachary. Everyone did a great job going to bat to help end homelessness in Harford County.

Innovation Chamber
Paint to Innovate Highlights
During the Innovation Chamber’s Paint to Innovate event, employee artists added to one another’s canvases to create beautiful works of art. Paint to Innovate allowed us to think outside of the box and build on one another’s ideas to come up with something different and great!
Innovation encourages creativity and experimentation. We challenge you to be innovative, to harness your creative ability, think differently, experiment, and build on one another’s ideas to discover new opportunities.
In your workday, don’t forget to ask yourself these questions:
- Which one of your job duties takes the most time to complete, and why?
- What is the most tedious process you complete in your role?
-
What makes you say, “This shouldn’t be this hard”?
Submit your ideas to [email protected]
