Happy August, Grassland Enthusiasts! I hope everyone had a great long weekend!
We had one Native Prairie Speaker Series webinar in July, where Victoria Hartley-Cox discussed great horned owls. You can find Victoria's presentation on PCAP's YouTube Channel.
We will have one Native Prairie Speaker Series webinar in August, Clark Brenzil will discuss invasive species in native prairie! Later this month, Caitlin is also planning another #InvasiveWeeds Week social media campaign that will tie-in with Clark's presentation at the end of the month! Register here!
Speaking of social media campaigns, if you remember I mentioned the Central Grasslands Roadmap Summit back in May, their communication team launched a Grasslands and You campaign in July, running July 27th to September 18th. It is a coordinated effort to spread the word about grasslands to grassland conservation supporters as well as the general public, so you may see the same posts across various social media channels. Feel free to share and spread the word on your own social media, the Grasslands and You resources can be found here!
And finally, we would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support: Camp Wolf Willow, Canadian Forage and Grasslands Association, EcoFriendly West, Enbridge, Information Services Corporation, Mosaic Company, Saskatchewan Cattlemen's Association, SaskEnergy, SaskPower, SaskTel, SaskWater, Wildlife Habitat Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada, as well as the continuous support of all the PCAP Partners.
Have a great month!
Carolyn Gaudet, SK PCAP Manager

Canadian Prairies Prescribed Fire Exchange is happy to share that their Introduction to Prescribed Fire in the Grassland Environment course is now live on the University of Saskatchewan website and is available for anyone and everyone to take.
The course is online, self-paced and should take about 15-hours to complete. Registration is $150.
The material provides participants with the understanding of basic principles for planning, conducting, and assessing a prescribed fire, with a specific focus on grassland ecosystems.

Partner Spotlight:
Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds
The Saskatchewan Association of Watersheds (SAW) is a non-profit organization that is working towards a vision of protecting and conserving the natural resource of water in Saskatchewan and ensuring that there will be a healthy source water supply of ground and surface water for future generations. Guided by our Board of Directors, we have experienced tremendous growth in the past three months as we have created and hired fifteen new staff positions and we have also opened our head office at 817 High Street in Moose Jaw. We are looking forward to hosting an official grand opening of our head office very soon, so be sure to watch for details in the near future. You can also now find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
In addition to our existing programing, including Tree for Life, WSA Wetland Retention Program, and Aquatic Invasive Mussel Monitoring, SAW is excited to be delivering the Prairie Watersheds Climate Program (PWCP) in Saskatchewan. The PWCP is led by the Manitoba Association of Watersheds (MAW) and funding for this project has been provided by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada through the Agricultural Climate Solutions – On-Farm Climate Action Fund.
The PWCP provides up to $40 million in financial support, through the On Farm Climate Action Fund (OFACF), to producers in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to accelerate their adoption and implementation of on-farm beneficial management practices (BMPs) to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, support production efficiency, sustainability, and resiliency on their farm operations. To assist producers with their adoption of new BMPs, the program offers producers resources to support BMP implementation and provide BMP design recommendations.
The three eligible BMP streams in the PWCP program are:
