MOUNTAINS, MOUNTAINS, MOUNTAINS
Very seldom is a hunter so focused on mountain hunting that he becomes an elite hunter almost exclusively due to his hunts for the wild sheep and goats/ibex of the world. But when you become one of only 14 hunters to achieve the Ovis Super 40 and you are within 3 species of becoming the third person to ever achieve the Capra Super 40, our selection committee notices.

THE JOURNEY
Brian grew up on a farm in Canada. For fun, he shot his sling shot and then graduated to a BB gun that his Dad got him at age 8. During his university years, his outdoor activities were primarily hockey, rugby, and skiing. Then there was a long break consumed by his medical education and residency (during which he became an Obstetrician and Gynecologist, and an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Calgary). In 2000, he successfully hunted a Dall Sheep and that “set off the Sheep fever like I never would have imagined.”

WHAT ABOUT AFRICA?
Can you imagine being recognized as an elite hunter without ever having hunted Africa (except for two mountain hunts … Morocco for Aoudad and the Sudan for Nubian Ibex)? He still has plenty of time for Africa, if he so chooses, but Brian remains laser-focused on adding to his collection of 42 Ovis species and 37 Capra species. And he also has a goal of achieving the North American 29 as recognized by GSCO. His next hunts will include Columbia Blacktail and Roosevelt Elk … and any additional Ovis and Capra species currently huntable or that may become huntable in the future.
