AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Lyuda Berkhoff
Lyuda Berkoff of Universal Technical Institute is this month's featured Ambassador. She has recently joined the Ambassador Committee. Lyuda is the Director of Financial Aid at Universal Technical Institute. As Director of Financial Aid, Lyuda leads a team of advisors who educate students on the most effective funding pathway in their pursuit of a career. In partnership with other departments, they operate to advocate for student success.
Universal Technical Institute has been a Chamber member since January of 2012. With more than 220,000 graduates in its 54-year history, Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (NYSE: UTI) is the nation's leading provider of technical training for automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle and marine technicians, and offers welding technology and computer numerical control (CNC) machining programs. The company has built partnerships with industry leaders, outfits its state-of-the-industry facilities with current technology, and delivers training that is aligned with employer needs.
The mission of UTI is to change lives by supporting our students as they grow academically, professionally and personally. We are honored to have been awarded the School of Excellence Award and the Commitment to Education Award from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges in 2019. The School of Excellence award recognizes ACCSC-accredited institutions for their efforts in demonstrating a high level of achievement among their students and commitment to the accreditation process. The ACCSC Commitment to Education award is designed to recognize the outstanding efforts of a member of an ACCSC-accredited school’s staff who is providing outstanding contributions in support of the school’s mission, its students, and the community it serves. The honor validates the strength and dedication of our collective work over the past several years.
The Lisle Area Chamber has been an outstanding partner to their school for several years. Many Chamber members advocated for the relocation to their current campus in Lisle, offered the students discounts at local businesses, and have hired our graduates. Universal Technical Institute appreciates the continued support from their fellow members.
They also value the willingness of Chamber members that take the time to learn about UTI, the opportunities afforded by an industry-supported technical education and how their model of career training benefits students, employers and the economy. Being involved in the Chamber has helped them forge personal and professional relationships with local businesses. Lyuda feels that it is a privilege to be named UTI's Ambassador in the Chamber because it allows her to work with outstanding local business leaders.
Lyuda was originally born in Ukraine, and her husband was born in England but they now reside in Naperville with their 2 sons Ben & Harry (ages 11 and 14) and their labradoodle Zoe. They enjoy running and biking together as a family. Fun fact: They have a snooker table in their house as her family are huge fans of playing snooker. Lyuda feels that living a life of gratitude is important to her. Her favorite quote is from Harold Kushner, "If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be FILLED WITH GRATITUDE."

West Suburban Community Pantry and Ross Creative Works Recognized
For Virtual Food Pantry Marketing Campaign
Woodridge, IL--West Suburban Community Pantry and Ross Creative Works of Naperville have received a First Place Tempo Award for the “Virtual Food Pantry Launch Campaign” by the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing. WSCP and Ross Creative Works were recognized in the Not-for-Profit category, in which Morton Arboretum and Hoag Hospital Foundation were also finalists.
Thirty-one marketing companies and advertisers/brands participated in the 2022 Tempo Awards by submitting marketing campaigns launched between October 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021. Submitted campaigns were part of marketing programs designed to generate a measurable response from a target audience. They were judged in twenty categories.
“The simple, colorful, graphics and to-the-point copy spoke to people when it mattered most,” says Lisa Spaeth, Director of Development for WSCP. “In devising the campaign, we put ourselves in our customer’s shoes, considering when and where we delivered the messaging. We are proud to receive this award alongside Ross Creative Works, valued community partners, and friends of the Pantry. Their design work and ability to push out the campaign in ways that best served our customers has resulted in an extremely successful launch for this new program.”
The Virtual Food Pantry campaign introduced new online ordering and convenient curbside pick-up for customers of the WSCP. The Pantry provides food and resources to people facing hunger, offering access to nutritious meals and strengthening hope for tomorrow. Rooted in the community for 50 years, WSCP offers an in-person food pantry, Virtual Food Pantry with curbside pick-up, and DoorDash delivery to households in DuPage County, Bolingbrook, and Romeoville. The Pantry also runs child nutrition programs and connects families with financial assistance and free workshops. Every day, the Pantry is moving closer to the vision of a community without hunger thanks to the support of individuals, businesses, and organizations.
