August 2022 Newsletter
In July, BCDI-Atlanta’s Board and staff members were excited to be out in the community sharing information and resources to support young children and families!

Check out this recently launched initiative! Find Help Georgia is a free and easy-to-use virtual resource hub and mobile app that directly connects community members to free and reduced-cost programs and services. You can search for financial assistance, food pantries, medical care, and other free or reduced-cost services! Find Help Georgia is 100% free to use.

In 2021, paid leave became a reality in Georgia, thanks to the work of partners like
9to5! In partnership with the Georgia Coalition for Paid Leave, on which BCDI-Atlanta proudly serves as a member, 9to5 Georgia recently released Dollars and Sense: A Cost/Benefit Analysis of Paid Leave in Georgia - a report outlining the need for comprehensive paid leave and offering a cost-benefit analysis of paid leave for GA workers .

With paid leave as a prenatal-3 goal in our public policy agenda, BCDI-Atlanta is excited to share this publication on the coalition's behalf! Be sure to view partner organizations on page 27. We are so much stronger together!

BCDI-Atlanta will publish the second edition of its peer-reviewed journal, Nurture, this Fall. Nurture champions topics important to Black children ages 0-8 and their families.

Thank you to BCDI-Atlanta Historian Debbie Hillman for presenting this information at our spring Affiliate Meeting and to the distinguished ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. for their devoted partnership.
