A New Dawn...
Greetings!
For the last few months, Saskia and I have been very busy behind the scenes organising the programme of tours and workshops for 2023 (who am I kidding, you all know it's Saskia doing the hard work!) We have created some exciting new trips, along with the return of some old favourites. So, it's time to catch you up on new developments...

I am delighted to be leading photo tours again with the very talented Antony Spencer. It's been over seven years since we last led together in Scandanavia. It will be fantastic to return to Norway with him in April for a winter Lofotens trip with a difference: we'll be exploring the seldom visited western coast of the island chain by boat! |

Tony once described me as the "king of dereliction" so it seems fitting that we will be exploring the forgotten buildings of the US prairie states together in July on our Relics of the Great Plains tour. |
|
This tour is just one of three that I will be running in the USA in the latter half of '23. It's been a number of years since I was last in the States but luckily the magnificent scenery of Montana & Wyoming and the quirky Americana along Route 66 are still there!

Last minute availability for '22: PICOS de EUROPA |

There is still space on my tour to Spain's Picos de Europa mountains. It remains a mystery why this region, despite containing some of the finest mountain scenery in Europe, is little known outside of Spain.
A visit seems like stepping back in time to a quieter, idyllic past. The high limestone mountains are prised apart by deep, wooded valleys, where splashes of green fields surround weathered terracotta villages. Ancient trackways follow the routes taken by cattle and sheep to the high summer pastures where shepherd dogs bark deeply at passing walkers, should they venture too close to their charges.

We will spend one day on a 4x4 safari, taking narrow drovers' tracks (that are only open to permit holders) deep into the uninhabited interior of the range. We will visit the site of the region's first human settlement, perched high above the Deva valley, and journey on through ancient forests.
Another highlight will be our visit to Bulnes, a tiny hamlet high in the mountains accessible only on foot (a long steep walk!) or by a funicular railway running through the heart of a mountain. Relax; we're taking the train!
