On August 18th, our local Chicago Public Library McKinley Park Branch hosted an excellent morning for our "Life Goes On" poster winners with the Secretary of State, Jesse White. It was a grand community celebration honoring Zeyneb Efe (overall poster winner) Cassandra Medrano (middle school winner) and Marissa Estrada (high school Winner). We are so proud of our winners and would like to thank their art teachers, Ms. Curtis and Ms. Kozi for providing these fantastic opportunities for our students! We are thrilled to know that Zeyneb's poster will be the primary source of advertisement for the "Life Goes On" state website!

A special thanks to Pat McGuire from the American Legion William McKinley Veteran Post #231 for donating school supplies for our families. The supplies were donated just in time for our supplemental services sign-up week. We appreciate the community partnership we have with our local Veteran post. We can't wait to host our annual Veteran's Day breakfast for them coming this November!

Thank you to all of our partners for helping us launch our supplemental sign-up week for our families. Representatives from our transportation, before/after care, athletics, PTO, and CYSP groups were all in attendance to help assist our families for this 2022-23 school year. We were thrilled to host this important week for our families allowing them ample time to get all of the services they needed  before the first day of school!

Congratulations to our outstanding students for being nationally recognized out of 62,000 students from across the country to earn academic honors from the College Board’s National Recognition Programs! These National Recognition Programs grant students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country! We are so proud of our students!

On Monday, Aug 29th our 5th graders attended their annual Hogwarts House Sorting Ceremony! The 5th-grade team uses a Positive Behavior System called House Points to monitor and reward good behavior. This reward system is not based on academics but rather on good behavior and citizenship.

Students were sorted randomly into one of the 4 houses in the Harry Potter Series- Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin, & Gryffindor! Our students look forward to this 5th-grade tradition. We want to applaud our 5th-grade team for this creative way to keep their students engaged and excited to be team players!

Congratulations to our Champions!!! Both our Varsity and 10u teams won the summer league park championships! We are so proud of them all, especially for our 10u repeat champs. Thank you to all of our players and coaches for a fantastic summer season. We appreciate all the hard work and dedication. GO HSA HAWKS!
