Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks the Beginning of Mach1 Aviation at Kissimmee Gateway Airport

The City of Kissimmee hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for Mach1 Aviation, LLC, on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM), to officially start the construction of this company’s hangar and ultimately establish its aviation presence in Kissimmee.

“It is with great appreciation and honor to recognize Mach1 Aviation’s significant investment in the Kissimmee Gateway Airport. This project will assist in meeting the demand for larger aircraft storage space and promoting business activity. As the first hangar to be constructed in the Airport Business Airpark, this first-class facility sets the bar for future hangars planned in the Airpark and the Airport,” said Shaun Germolus, Aviation Director at Kissimmee Gateway Airport.

Mach1 Aviation will provide helicopter training and maintenance and additional space to lease to other aviation companies. This aviation company was an eligible City Quality Targeted Industry (QTI) company, thus eligible for economic development incentives. City incentives are formula based and provided as rebates and reimbursement once the company has fulfilled its investment and job creation obligations. This $5 million aviation investment is eligible for over $93,000. Construction of Mach1 Aviation’s hangar is expected to be completed within the next 12 to 18 months and become the largest hangar at ISM.

Congratulations are in order for our very own Airfield Manager Ramon Senorans who celebrates ten years with the City of Kissimmee this month. Ramon manages the airfield operations at Kissimmee Gateway Airport and brings a high level of professional excellence to his work every day.

Kissimmee Airport Launches New

"ISM" Marketing Campaign

Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) today announced a new marketing campaign in honor of National Aviation Week, which is observed annually from August 19-25. The campaign was designed to promote the airport and the City of Kissimmee as a top year-round travel and tourism destination and a great place to locate a business in Florida. The campaign incorporates the airport's International Air Transport Association (IATA) three-letter airport code “ISM” and highlights words that embody our values like “professional-ISM,” “tour-ISM,” and many others.

“We are absolutely thrilled to launch this new campaign,” said Airport Director Shaun Germolus. “Our city and airport continue to grow. With this campaign, we’re able to highlight what makes our city and our airport an ideal location for business and leisure.”

General Aviation applies to airports with limited or no scheduled commercial airline service. General Aviation airports serve various aviation activities, including recreational flying, aircraft manufacturing, flight training, corporate, charter, and fractional aircraft operations. ISM has historically been one of the top 10 busiest airports in Florida, based on the number of flight operations. ISM works in partnership with Experience Kissimmee, the city’s official tourism agency, to create opportunities to promote Kissimmee.

“This new marketing campaign is a great addition to the work that Experience Kissimmee does to showcase what makes our area so special for both tourists and businesses,” said D.T.
