Cheryl Thibault of the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce Completes First Year at Institute for Organization Management
A Leadership Training Program Produced by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, is pleased to announce that Cheryl Thibault – President & CEO of the Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce, has recently completed her first year at the Institute for Organization Management, a four-year nonprofit leadership training program at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.
“Institute graduates are recognized across the country as leaders in their industries and organizations,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, the U.S. Chamber’s vice president of the Institute for Organization Management. “These individuals have the knowledge, skills, and dedication necessary to achieve professional and organizational success in the dynamic association and chamber industries.”
Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has been educating tens of thousands of association, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates. Institute’s curriculum consists of four weeklong sessions at four different university locations throughout the country. Through a combination of required courses and electives in areas such as leadership, advocacy, marketing, finance, and membership, Institute participants are able to enhance their own organizational management skills and add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively.
Institute for Organization Management is the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. It is the premier nonprofit professional development program for association and chamber professionals, fostering individual growth through interactive learning and networking opportunities.
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the world’s largest business organization representing companies of all sizes across every sector of the economy. Our members range from the small businesses and local chambers of commerce that line the Main Streets of America to leading industry associations and large corporations.

Sue Skirvin - Tupperware
Sue Skirvin has been a Tupperware representative for more than 40 years and she will tell you she started when she was 12 years old! Born and raised in West Palm Beach, she knew she wanted to be a dental hygienist after spending many years in her orthodontist’s chair and becoming a certified dental assistant and working as such for nearly 5 years. Someone dropped a Tupperware catalog off at her office and the party began! After she married Rick and added 3 girls and a boy to the family, she decided to let her dental job go and focus on growing her Tupperware business because of the flexibility it provided her. She soon found herself driving company cars, and earning trips all while being the mom to their children that would go on field trips, coached teams, and led troops. She transferred her business up to Orlando when they moved and restarted by helping others to start their own business while sharing the benefits of saving time and money preparing meals and storing food. Teaching microwave cooking classes, meal prep classes, and how to stretch your grocery dollars were a few things she learned and loved and loved to share with others and still does today!
In 1998, she was offered a franchise opportunity and had been accepted into the dental hygiene program in Orlando. She chose Tupperware and that is what brought the Skirvin Family over to Sebastian. She joined the SRACC shortly after arriving here and has been a member ever since. She continues to work with Tupperware reps near and far with her company expanding into 28 states other than Florida. She is passionate about helping other young moms to be able to get paid what they are worth learning and passing on valuable life skills and raising their children. She works with men and women and will tell you when she works, it’s a party! “I love helping others to be their own boss, work their own hours, and to write their own paycheck.”
Tupperware is in nearly 100 countries and has been a household name in more than 75 years and continues to be the same quality product everywhere. With products that allow you to grill in your microwave or steam multiple dishes at one time, it can really help families to eat healthy and have more time together, which is so important! Sue will tell you, “I love what I do and you can too!”
