The Arizona State Board of Education is pleased to announce that the nomination window for our Student of the Month program is now open. The Student of the Month program was created to recognize the exceptional character, qualities, and achievements of K-12 students across our state. Students can be nominated in any of the following categories:


  • Personal Qualities/Character
  • Achievements (i.e. Academics, STEM, STEAM, Arts, Sports, Extracurriculars)
  • Community/School Impact
  • Civic Engagement
  • Commerce/Business


The nomination window will be open from July 17, 2023 to September 15, 2023. You can nominate a student for recognition using the form here: https://forms.gle/NntNHSJ9Qqwo7VF46


Please note that only one nomination should be submitted per school / private school / homeschool / ESA home-educating family. Nominations may relate to student actions/activities during the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 school year.

ADE's Office of Homeless Education Webinar


The Arizona Department of Education’s Office of Homeless Education is excited to

announce a webinar designed specifically for McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons!


This hour professional learning session and following Q&A Office Hour will prepare

district and site McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons and other personnel

responsible for identifying, enrolling, and servicing students experiencing

homelessness, to ensure compliance with the federal statutory requirements of the

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.


This session will cover the following topics:

  • A quick and comprehensive overview of the Homeless Education Program (HEP);
  • An overview of programmatic requirements to ensure compliance with federal statute; and
  • Required tools to equip and empower designated program personnel.


Who should attend?

  • District McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons of Record
  • Site-based McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons
  • District and site-based personnel assisting with the identification, enrollment, and provision of services for students experiencing homelessness

We are excited to host this session on the new ADE Professional Learning & Development (APLD) platform!

requirements to have professional learning participation verified.

Since each session is capped at 295 participants, please ensure that you register

via APLD as soon as possible.


Please note that the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act requires States to

adopt policies and practices to ensure participation of McKinney-Vento Homeless

Liaisons and other district personnel in professional learning and technical

assistance activities. Based on this requirement, as determined appropriate by our

Office, all McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaisons required to engage in a minimum of

eight professional learning hours each school year to ensure that the McKinney-

Vento requirements and best practices are continuously developed (42 U.S.C.

§ 11432 (f)(6); (g)(1)(J)(iv)).
