Dear Parent /Guardian,
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to another school year! We welcome the Class of 2027, and we celebrate all of our students as we again have a strong enrollment at about 600 students. Along with an impressive freshmen class, we welcome many transfer students and their families to the JCA family. We truly hope that you find the transition to your new school an easy one and that in no time you will consider us a second home. It seems like our summers fly by quickly each year, but I hope that you have had time to enjoy life with your families and get that much needed rest before we begin.
As we get moving toward a new school year, we are reminded of the groundwork laid before us by the Carmelites and Franciscans and the Mission we so adhere to as we lay new groundwork for future generations of Angels and Hilltoppers.
This year we will once again be packed with activities, with which we can’t say enough for our students to get involved, but this includes you too parents! It is statistically proven that the more the student is involved with some aspect of school outside the classroom ,the better they do with their academics. Also, we stress that we know how much you sacrifice for your child to go to JCA, so it is your right to be involved in as much or as little as you would like. One event that we have newly developed for this year is our Brown and Blue Barbecue, which takes place on Saturday, September 30th @ 5:00 PM in the Heritage Quad. We wanted yet another way for parents to meet one another and enjoy some time together. Further information about all of our events can be accessed on our website or please just give us a call.
Needless to say, we have a lot of wonderful things happening on campus. Our prayers are for you and your family and for a successful 2023/ 2024 school year. As part of the JCA family, we always cherish our time together and hope that we can celebrate all that is JCA for another year.
Blessings,

Every other year, Campus Ministry provides confirmation preparation classes to our students interested in receiving the sacrament. Confirmation preparation classes take place during homeroom periods throughout the school year, and students seeking to receive the sacrament can do so in the spring along with the students from a local parish. Any costs that are incurred come from the parish and are typically under $50. We will begin this process again next school year, and we have begun to build a list of interested parties. If you have a student who would like to be confirmed in the Catholic church, or you would like more information on the process, please reach out to Campus Ministry by email jca-ministry@jca-online.org or phone (815-741-0500, ext. 262-Mrs. Ferro, or ext. 263-Dr. Bailey).

You can sign up for as many hours as you’d like between 10am and 8pm, when the store is open. Freshman could complete, their 5 required hours, Sophomores, their 10 and Juniors that work hard could complete their 15. Our school's success is due to many factors. One of the greatest gifts JCA receives is the gift of time that our families donate to us as volunteers. Please look over this form and think about how you could "give of yourself." We are promising that you will be contacted throughout the school year to fulfill your request. This information is also passed along to some of our faculty, staff, and parent board members.
If you need more specific information about the volunteer opportunities, please contact Chris Voss, Director of Special Events (815-773-0784). PLEASE SUBMIT THIS FORM BY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2023.
