"At the end of the day, you feel like you've accomplished something"
Rohan C. was introduced to New Century Careers through a career counselor at Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS). He has always loved putting things together and making things but didn’t know how to apply that to a career. His counselor recommended the M2K program to start his training in machining.
Throughout his time here, he has enjoyed learning from the instructors. While the hardest part of training is having to re-do projects if there are errors, he credits Paul and Odell for their extensive knowledge and industry experience. “They are very experienced and I feel like I’ve been learning a lot,” says Rohan. “Each teacher has different techniques and I get to absorb as much knowledge as possible.” Rohan especially enjoys finishing projects. “At the end of the day, you feel like you’ve accomplished something.” His advice to future pre-apprentices? “Be dedicated, consistent, listen, and practice. That’s all it takes.”
Once he completes M2K, Rohan plans on entering the machining workforce. His main goal is to progress through the field and become a journeyman.
