The Rural Fire Protection (RFP) Program within the Arkansas Department of Agriculture’s Forestry Division is dedicated to assisting communities and fire departments in protecting lives, property, and the environment.

Save the Date: 2024 Rural Fire Show

Don't miss the 2024 Rural Fire Show! This is an annual, free appreciation event for Arkansas firefighters and their families. This year's event will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Conway Expo & Event Center.

There will be door prizes, vendors, demonstrations, and a BBQ lunch provided. This year, there will be two training opportunities:

Morning Session: Insurance Service Office

Afternoon Session: Conventional Missing Person Search

Wildland Fire Suppression Kits

Rural volunteer fire departments that serve a population of less than 10,000 and 80% or more of the firefighters are volunteer may apply to receive wildland fire suppression kits. Kits are provided through the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant from the U.S. Forest Service and include wildland personal protective equipment. Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2024.

Firewise Renewal Deadline

The deadline to submit Firewise Renewal Grant paperwork is October 1, 2024.

Renewal Checklist:

• Education Project Tracking Sheet(s) with photos
• Mitigation Project Tracking Sheet(s) with photos
• Any Homeowner Tracking Sheets
• Signed Assurance of Compliance
• 424 Form
• Renewal Form
