Dear Andrea,

Did you know August is National Make-A-Will Month? I didn't either! It's a reminder to update your will or create one if needed. A will is an important estate-planning document that can help you easily transfer your assets to your loved ones and favorite charitable causes, including the El Camino College Foundation.

El Camino College Foundation's Legacy Circle recognizes individuals and families who have designated a gift to the Foundation through their estate planning. A planned Legacy Circle gift helps to ensure the continued success of El Camino College students. If you have included the El Camino College Foundation in your will, or plan to in the near future, please make sure to inform the Foundation office. The Foundation team is available to work with you to create a meaningful legacy gift that will make a direct impact on access to higher education for El Camino students.

Clearly, the month of August is filled with possibility and potential. I'm looking forward to more hot August nights before we dive into fall!

Warmly,

Andrea Sala

Executive Director

Campus Spotlight: Stellar 2024 Aerospace Summer Games at

El Camino College

The 20th annual Aerospace Summer Games was held at El Camino College on July 27th, utilizing much of El Camino's athletic facilities. This year, nearly 50 companies participated with Northrop Grumman winning 1st place, followed by SpaceX and JPL.

The games pitted employees of South Bay aerospace companies against each other in 11 Olympic-style sporting event competitions. The Aerospace Summer Games originated in 2002, as an informal event among a group of Boeing employees and has since expanded to include many local aerospace and tech companies.

Student Spotlight: El Camino Students Featured in Dual Enrollment Promotion Videos

We are honored to be included in UNITE LA’s film project in partnership with the LARC K-16 Collaborative that featured El Camino’s Dual Enrollment program. The video highlights dual enrolled students, Cecelia Alcerro and Sahara Heras, as well as the great work being done to support student success and effective dual enrollment at El Camino College.

El Camino's Dual Enrollment program offers high school students the chance to take community college courses, providing them a sneak peek at college life while earning credits and saving on tuition. Learn more about how our students have benefitted from dual enrollment by viewing the video HERE.

Community Partners Spotlight: AT&T

We are proud of our strong community partners and this includes our partnership with AT&T. AT&T has supported the El Camino College Foundation for nearly 10 years, providing $25,000 in sponsorship support as an educational partner.

AT&T has committed $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030 and bridge the digital divide. This commitment includes advancing education, creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and improving lives. As part of their companywide commitment to address the digital divide, they launched AT&T Connected Learning® to invest in connectivity and technology, digital literacy, and education solutions to help today’s learners succeed inside and outside of the classroom.

Since 2008, AT&T has developed programs that help millions of students across all 50 states, Washington D.C., and around the world, particularly those in underserved communities. In California alone, it’s estimated that 8% of households do not have access to the internet or connected devices needed to fully participate in the online world. To address the digital divide within California, AT&T distributed more than 26,000 devices to students, older adults, and their families across the state since 2021 and partnered with community-based organizations like the El Camino College Foundation to provide support and resources.

Thank you AT&T for all you have done for the students of El Camino College!
