Move Minneapolis Staff Update -

Farewell, Karl

Dear Partners & Friends,

I’m writing to share the news that Move Minneapolis Outreach Specialist, Karl Hedlund, will be leaving our team at the end of August to join his partner on new grad school adventures in Rome, Italy. We’re saddened to see Karl go but are thrilled for his new chapter. His contributions to Move Minneapolis have been immense.

Karl has overseen some of the organization’s signature work including leading our Annual Transportation Summits, standing up our bi-monthly webinar series and leading our emerging work into residential outreach and accessibility and affordability services. We’re a better organization and team due to his contributions. We look forward to seeing what’s ahead for him and wish him well on this new adventure.

Best,

Tiffany Orth

Quarterly Transit Service Changes:

Light Rail Every 12 Minutes

Light rail trains will run more frequently, and service will be improved on several bus routes, as Metro Transit’s ridership and workforce continue to grow. Among the service changes taking effect on Saturday, Aug. 17:

  • On the METRO Blue Line and METRO Green Line, trains will run every 12 minutes between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day.
  • On weekdays, METRO Orange Line buses will run every 10 minutes between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. northbound and between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. southbound. On Sundays, trips will run every 15 minutes.

Getting To The Fair Can Be

Fast, Easy, & Cheap!

There are many fast, easy, and economical ways to get to the Minnesota State Fair without paying for limited and expensive vehicle parking.

Metro Transit operates three regular bus routes that serve the area including the Metro A Line BRT

Free secure bike and scooter parking is available at three bike corral locations, which are fenced-in areas monitored by staff. There are a number of bike trails going to the State Fair that avoid the gridlock of cars and crowded parking lots. Streets.mn offers route maps to help make the journey to the “great Minnesota get-together” part of the fun.

Metro Transit, SouthWest Transit, and MVTA operate 13 Park & Ride locations with low-cost fares by bus to the fairgrounds. There are also 31 “park free & ride free” lots with shuttle buses.
