August 2024 (No. 143)

Welcome to our newsletter. Once a month we will update you with news about David Matero Architecture and our community. We welcome your comments, questions and feedback.

Jellison House

We stopped by the Jellison House house recently to get a glimpse of finished work. The owner, and interior designer, is putting her finishing touches on her house and it's looking great. A new barn, which has now become a garage below and family room above, replaced an old barn that needed to come down. The interior of the house was renovated at the same time. Construction by Wright Ryan Homes.

Meadowview

Meadowview is fully sheathed, and the exterior massing is complete except for the covered walkway between the main house and garage/workshop. The windows and doors will be arriving soon so work can continue on the interior. The energy model shows this house beating a code compliant house by 25%, and comes in with a HERS rating of 5 with solar panels and 47 without. Construction by Rideout & Turner.

Bath Family YMCA

The north classroom building of the Bath YMCA, affectionally known as the Treehouse, is complete now that the exterior painting is finished. This project adds 32 childcare spaces for the Bath community. Construction by Frohmiller Construction.

The Bath/Brunswick YMCA is also working to add over 150 childcare spaces with two big projects planned. These will not be designed by DMA but David is on the building committee for both projects.

Main Street Bath Gala

Straight from the planet Funktar, the ultimate disco tribute show is coming to the Waterfront Park in Bath on Sunday September 1 with the music of Motor Booty Affair. This will be MSB's largest annual fundraiser, and helps to provide many free events and concerts throughout the year. Motor Booty puts on a great show, as they have for many years. Fun fact, David went to high school with the lead singer and remembers him performing with the Bicycle Thieves way back. Tickets available to support MSB here!

Views from the Job site

Cedar Ranch is getting a redux by Wogan Brothers. The garage/studio is fully sheathed, and the interior of the main house as been gutted in preparation for a deep energy retrofit. We have worked out several nice interior details that will provide some accent to selected spaces, but more importantly, open up beautiful views of the water. Another fun fact, this is the next door neighbor to Headline, which was just photographed below.

Headline, photographed by Darren Setlow Photography, coming soon to our website!
