Hello!

Happy August and Happy Warrior Wednesday! We are now in full fall semester mode and are looking forward to all the exciting things the new year has in store for us.

If you didn't know, August is National Make-A-Will Month. It's a reminder to update your will or create one if needed. El Camino College Foundation's Legacy Circle recognizes individuals and families who have designated a gift to the Foundation through their estate planning. If you have included the El Camino College Foundation in your will, please inform us. The Foundation team is available to work with you to create a meaningful legacy gift that will directly impact El Camino students for years to come.

Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend and our warm summer weather!

With gratitude,

Andrea Sala

Executive Director

Foundation Spotlight: Starry Summer Night Donor Appreciation Event was Out-of-this-World!

On August 14th, the El Camino College Foundation enjoyed an enchanting and intimate evening under the stars to thank our generous donors. Guests were treated to a delicious dinner and a mesmerizing planetarium show, led by ECC Astronomy professor Shimonee Kadakia, reminding us of all the limitless possibilities that El Camino offers.

Donor Spotlight: Thank You to Our 2024-2025 Foundation Supporters

The ECC Foundation concluded the 2024-2025 academic year on a very high note, awarding a record-breaking $1 million in scholarships for fall 2025 to nearly 675 El Camino College students!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every donor whose kindness and commitment made this success possible. In recognition of your invaluable support, we proudly featured full-page donor thank you ads in six local newspaper publications (Daily Breeze, Easy Reader, El Segundo Herald, Peninsula Magazine, South Bay Cities, and The Beach Reporter).

Together, we are transforming lives and building a brighter future in our community. View the donor thank you ad HERE.

Campus Spotlight: El Camino College Welcomed Senator Ben Allen and Team to Campus

Earlier this month, El Camino College welcomed CA State Senator Ben Allen and his team to campus. We enjoyed sharing our vibrant programs and state-of-the-art facilities, and look forward to continuing to strengthen our educational partnership in support of student success.

Senator Allen toured ECC's Social Justice Center, athletics facilities, and the EMT classroom to see the full size ambulance that helps train our EMT and Paramedic students. With Senator Allen's recent appointment as chairman of the California State Senate's Special Committee on International Sporting Events, which includes the LA28 Games and the FIFA World Cup, public safety and athletics were key topics of conversation.

Department Spotlight: Shout Out to ECC's Outreach & School Relations Team

Thank you to our amazing Outreach & School Relations team who are always willing to support local community events by manning an El Camino booth. Recently our team was sited at the El Segundo Rotary's Movie in the Park event on August 3rd.

Want to know what our Outreach representatives do? They work with students on campus and visit area high schools to offer information about the admissions and application process, programs and support services available at the college, and university transfer requirements. They also attend community events and college fairs to help increase enrollment and provide information and/or answer admission questions.

Community Partners Spotlight: Thanks to Malaga Bank and Torrance Refining Company for their Billboard Advertising!

Over the summer, we were fortunate for community support from Malaga Bank and Torrance Refining Company who generously promoted El Camino College's fall 2025 student enrollment on their local billboards.

Not only did this enhance our visibility within the community but it also reflected the strong partnership we have cultivated with these organizations. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the advertising, which underscores the importance of true collaboration in fostering educational opportunities. Thank you for being such exemplary community partners!
