Where has the summer gone, can you believe its August already!?! I guess time really does fly when your having fun. I hope you had some time to get out and enjoy some outdoor events. Summer is winding down and kids will be going back to school.
There is still some time to get in some summer events. Be sure to join us on August 16th for the Lisle Bottles, Barrels and Brews event at the Museums at Lisle Station Park. Tickets are on sale through EventBrite and make sure you get your tickets before prices go up at the gate. There is also another Ribbon Cutting on August 7th at King Chiropractic from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
Be sure to check the Chamber’s event calendar on the Chamber website and take advantage of all these networking events. Think about joining a committee or two. There’s a variety of committees to join and it’s a great way to get involved in the community, network and grow your business. Enjoy the end of summer!

Tom Thornton

This month’s featured Ambassador is Tom Thornton, owner of Your Promo Partners. Tom has been with the Lisle Area Chamber for 15 years and has been actively involved in the Dinner Dance, Downtown Business Council, Golf, Lisle Uncorked and the Lisle Bottles, Barrels & Brews Committees. In addition to the Chamber Committees, Tom served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors and most recently was the Chairman of the Board in 2024.
Tom is the Owner of Your Promo Partners and since he is the owner, he does just about everything, but mainly he handles sales. Tom has been in the print industry for 30 years. Before he entered the promotion product industry, he was a sales rep for a large format graphic printer in Chicago and worked on exhibits and displays for the Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, the United Center as well as trade show display builders.
As an Ambassador, Tom feels it is a great way to connect with other Chamber members. Delivering welcome packets and going to Ribbon Cuttings are a great way to meet new Chamber members. Attending Business After Hours and other Chamber events also help him stay in touch with Chamber members, many of whom become clients and friends.
Tom has lived in Lisle for thirty years. He has three grown children and currently has two German Shepherds, Gunner and Thor, and a foster German Shepherd, Lola. He volunteers for German Shepherd Rescue and other area rescues and usually spends his weekends going on hiking trips with his dogs. Tom recently saw a quote he really likes. “Networking is more about farming than it is about hunting. It’s cultivating relationships.” That quote reminds him that he is not going to walk into a networking event or a join a Chamber of Commerce and walk out with a bunch of new clients. It’s about building long lasting relationships. Through those relationships, the business will grow over time.

Lisle Bottles, Barrels & Brews, a premier tasting event, is being hosted by the Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce at the Museums at Lisle Station Park on August 16th from 4-7 pm with Early Entry tickets available from 3-4 pm. The event offers samples of wine, spirits and craft beers. Visit www.lislechamber.com for tickets.
Join the relaxed yet engaging event that will have craft beers from regional breweries, wines, and spirits. This is an ideal event for drinking enthusiasts and local entrepreneurs alike. There will also be music, food vendors and yard games. This event will include tastings from Chamber Members:
- Bubblehouse Brewing Company, located at 2121 Ogden Ave in Lisle, opened at the end of 2021. Founded by a former home brewer, it’s known for its family‑friendly taproom, open modern layout, board games, live music, and a community‑focused vibe.
- The Beer and Now is both a bottle shop and taproom at 2801 Ogden Ave, Ste 7 in Lisle. It serves craft beer enthusiasts with a curated selection of bottled beers and in‑house pours in a cozy setting.
