Community Newsletter, August 2025

At CCIH, we believe connection to community is an essential piece of trauma informed treatment. In a new post for our online magazine, Amy Zajakowski Uhll reflects on the importance of connection in the face of the overwhelming challenges of our present moment. We continue to focus on our work proving care for our clients and professional support for mental health providers. We have appointments available and a new Integrated Practices group forming now. Our free trauma Study Group will re-start this Fall, and we have a few spots left in our next workshop.

Practicing Together: Therapy in Uncertain Times

by Amy Zajakowski Uhll

As I reach for my phone to read the news, I am immediately flooded with emotion by the coverage and commentary that fill my feeds. I am aware of feelings of anger, sadness and despair. Having spent my adult life as a therapist treating trauma, my heart aches at the immediate pain and suffering that will result. As I sit with the chaos of my experience, I ask myself what it means to be a psychotherapist in these times.

Integrated Practices Group Forming Now

Wednesdays, starting September 10, 2025

(Group will not meet on October 1st)

10-week group

Therapist: Hannah Klawes

Meets in-person at 4700 N Ravenswood Ave

Our Integrated Practices groups are for those with a history of trauma.

Group members will learn practices that can help them develop an increased capacity to work with painful traumatic experiences, and an increased awareness of internal experience in the present moment.

In this group, we will not be sharing the details of trauma stories; we will be focusing on experience in the present.
