Information On Amendments 24A And 24C

On July 1, the PCUSA constitutional amendments proposed by the 226th General Assembly in 2024 and approved by the required majority of Presbyteries took effect. Our Vitality in Ministry Commission, working with Presbytery Staff, has developed some guidelines on how two of those amendments will be implemented in our Presbytery. The guidelines are available at the link below. If you have additional questions, please contact our Executive Presbyter or Stated Clerk.

Treasurer’s Report

A Thank You To NCCP From Nancy Disher

Nancy Disher has served 5 years as a Hunger Action Advocate and 2 years as a Mission Organizer for the Presbytery.

During her service she has had the opportunity to learn and work with many wonderful people in our Churches and is very grateful.

Nancy has decided to pursue mission and service work as a Project Manager for the non-profit she started called SOULutions Ministries.

You will hear more about SOULutions Ministries in the coming months as mission and service trip opportunities arise.

Nancy is very much engaged in Shepherd of the Sierra Church activities and is a faithful servant to our Presbytery.

Immigrant Task Force Establishes Emergency Fund For NCCP Churches

The NCCP Immigration Task Force has learned that recent ICE activity within the bounds of our presbytery is impacting our congregations and the communities they serve.  We have heard about family separation, emotional trauma, and, quite frequently, significant financial hardship because of lost income, emergency travel to detention centers, and other urgent needs.

Because of the great need for immediate relief, the NCCP Mission Support Commission has authorized our Immigration Task Force to provide small amounts of funding to meet emergency needs. If you know of members of your congregation or community who need help and could use this assistance, please complete the attached form and forward it to Executive Presbyter Karen Sapio at karen@nccpresby.org

If your church, Presbyterian Women’s group, or other groups within your church would like to contribute to this fund, please contact the NCCP treasurer, Maria Mar, at treasurer@nccpresby.org

For further information, please contact the Presbytery Office.

A Prayer-full Mission Opportunity From The Mission Support Team

Your Mission Support Team has learned of a need with the Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Jesus (EECMY).

EECMY is working hard in southwestern Ethiopia and it is a frontier of the gospel. Our congregations and new worshipping communities can be a vital and direct part of that thrilling expansion.

Washington Presbytery in southwestern Pennsylvania has been engaged with this flourishing prayer partnership ministry for 30 years. They share prayer concerns, and connect with EECMY partners. They visit and are visited, building personal relationships. That Presbytery is inviting us to join them. The renewable three-year covenant spells out desires and expectations.

Please consider joining us on Zoom weekly (Tuesday at 1-2pm) to discuss the lectionary passages for the coming Sunday. Our group shares thoughts, insights, and questions about the passages. Our conversations not only offer differing perspectives, they provide a forum for support and connection for clergy. (If you would like to know more about the group or to join, please e-mail Laura Barnes at eldoradofederatedchurch.org.

We look forward to hearing from you.)
