August 2025 Update

Greetings!

It is that time of year when we say goodbye to summer and say hello to a brand new school year. You may want to consider this time as a fresh start and an opportunity to experience new things and set new goals. While I will miss the slower pace of summer, I am excited to see what this new season in life has to bring!

Last Thursday the School Board resumed meetings after a short hiatus, which included a tentative budget hearing. Also, staff presented changes for a first read on the 2025-2026 Student Progression Plan. In case you missed the new legislation on cell phones, a change was made to the Student Code of Conduct, which can be found here. It's a good idea to review the Student Code of Conduct at the start of each school year.

As you know by now, one of the board priorities is Fiscal Responsibility. At the school board meeting, we recognized our incredible Office of Financial Services Department. They earned awards and recognition for the second year in a row: Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) and Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International.

We also recognized our amazing communications department as they earned multiple awards and were recognized by the Sunshine State School Public Relations Association (SUNSPRA). They received a Radiant Award which honors exceptional and strategic achievements in school public relations, communications, marketing, and community engagement. Additionally, CCPS earned awards in the various Digital Media and Publications categories. We are really proud of our team who go above and beyond!

I would also like to congratulate the Collier County Public School District for earning an "A" rating from the Florida Department of Education. We also moved up in district rankings and are now 6th in the state! For the full announcement and school grades, click here.

Let's make this our best year yet! I know I say that every year, but I am so impressed that we continue to raise the bar each year. All of this is possible because of you and the mindset to work together in the best interest of our students! Thank you all so much for giving me this opportunity to serve as your school board chair! My door is always open. Have a great school year!

With gratitude,

Bear Creek Elementary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
