This is a free Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Day for Commerce City entrepreneurs featuring startup basics, business structure guidance, and tips to avoid costly mistakes. As part of the event, join us for the Startup Essentials Workshop & Advising on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Derby Diamond intersection construction continues
The anticipated reopening of the main intersection at Derby has been delayed due to supply chain issues that are affecting the delivery of the festoon lighting and street‑lighting luminaires. These lighting improvements must be made while the intersection is closed, and increasing the overall illumination in the area is an important goal of the project. The light poles for this equipment are scheduled to arrive on August 18, and installation will begin immediately.
We recognize the impact this has on nearby businesses and residents, and remain available to any needs the community may have. These upgrades represent meaningful, long‑term investments in the neighborhood and in our community’s future, and we are excited to see them completed.

HubStarr Logistics & Advance Auto Parts at Ascent Commerce Center
Big news at Ascent Commerce Center! HubStarr Logistics, an Arizona-based third-party logistics provider, has opened its first Colorado operation: a 40,000-square-foot distribution facility in Building I, just minutes from Denver International Airport. The facility supports warehousing, fulfillment, and distribution for industries ranging from consumer goods to aerospace and technology.
Building II at the same park is now fully occupied, with Advance Stores, Inc. (a subsidiary of Advance Auto Parts) signing a seven-year lease for 178,027 square feet. Ascent Commerce Center’s owner called it a reflection of strong demand for modern industrial space in the Denver market.

Funding Opportunities for Circular Economy Projects
The Colorado Circular Communities (C3) Enterprise offers grant opportunities to businesses, nonprofits, schools, tribes, and local governments advancing Colorado's circular economy. Eligible projects may focus on waste reduction, reuse, recycling, composting, remanufacturing, or other innovative sustainability initiatives.
Impact Grants ranging from $50,000 to $500,000 are currently available through multiple application cycles in 2026.

Skill Advance Colorado Job Training Grant: Up to $200,000 for Employee Training
The Skill Advance Colorado Job Training Grant (formerly Colorado First and Existing Industry Grant) helps Commerce City businesses fund customized employee training. There are two tracks:
- Colorado First — Funds training for net new hires at companies relocating to or expanding in Colorado.
- Existing Industry — Funds training for current employees at established Colorado businesses to adapt to new technology, remain competitive, and prevent layoffs.
Grants of up to $200,000 are available. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and businesses work directly with a local community college representative who assists with eligibility and the application. Did you know? Adams County is now home to more than 542,000 residents, including 71,438 in Commerce City, and is Colorado's third fastest-growing county. DRCOG projects the county will grow to nearly 723,000 residents by 2040, making it the state's third-largest county.
