OUR MISSION is to Serve and Equip our Churches to Fulfill the Great Commission

I am excited about our 2026 SYBA Annual Meeting at First Baptist Mocksville, and I hope you will be able to join us! Parking is available in the library parking lot (the church owns the lot) as well as behind the church.

We will begin at 4:00 p.m. with our Business Meeting. Each church is encouraged to send three messengers, and guests are also welcome to attend. During the meeting, we will approve our 2027 budget and elect a new board member.

At our Annual Meeting, we will focus on our mission statement:

"To serve and equip our churches to fulfill the Great Commission." Acts 1:8

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."

You will hear ministry updates from:

Mary Jordan, Appalachian Backpack Ministry Coordinator
Noel Williamson, Executive Director of SYBA
Baptist on Mission, sharing about ministry opportunities in Western North Carolina
Chris Allen, Assistant Director of Church & Convention Relations at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary
Jamison Work, Associational Network Strategist and Mobilization Strategist with the International Mission Board

These reports will highlight how God is at work and how we can continue to be On Mission Together.

From 5:00–6:00 p.m., we will host a Mission Fair with a light dinner. This will be a great opportunity to learn about ministries serving our communities and beyond, discover ways your church can partner with them, and pray about where God is leading you to serve.

At 6:00 p.m., we will gather for a Celebration Service. Our guest speaker will be Danny Rumple, Executive Director-Treasurer of the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. Danny formerly served as an IMB missionary in China and answered God's call to ministry at First Baptist Mocksville. We are excited to welcome him back as he opens God's Word. First Baptist Mocksville will also lead us in a special time of worship.

Come celebrate what God has done, what He is doing, and what He will continue to do through our churches as we faithfully work On Mission Together.

2026 Annual Meeting Guest Speaker:

Danny Rumple serves as the Executive Director-Treasurer of the West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists. He previously served as Teaching and Discipleship Pastor at Cross Lanes Baptist Church and as Church Planting Catalyst for the North American Mission Board’s Send Network West Virginia. Prior to his ministry in West Virginia, he spent 15 years with the International Mission Board, leading a team in East Asia focused on cross-cultural ministry and small business development. He holds degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (D.Min., M.Div., M.A.) and the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (B.S.). Danny and his wife, Beth, have three children—Caleb (married to Lexi), Joseph, and Anna—and are passionate about making Jesus known in and through West Virginia.

Welcome to our newest SYBA Board Member:

Robert Jackson has served in pastoral ministry in South Yadkin Baptist Association since 1983. He served as the senior pastor of Peninsula Baptist (a new Church plant of SYBA, Southside Baptist, and the Baptist State Convention of NC). Upon retirement from Peninsula Baptist, Pastor Jackson completed the transitional interim Pastoral ministry training through the Baptist State Convention of NC and has served four churches in SYBA as their transitional Pastor. He’s also served in our denomination as a trustee of the International Mission Board and as chairman of the Baptist State Convention Executive Director Search Committee. He and his wife Linda have been married 53 years and have three daughters and six grandchildren.
