Announcements
We are seeking donations of gently used jewelry for our annual book sale. Thank you for thinking of us!
Our Annual Book Sale and Fall Festival will be on Friday, September 11th, and Saturday, September 12th, from 9-2. We will have a huge selection of books, puzzles, and more available for purchase. There will also be music and a fun craft activity for the kids.
We are seeking volunteers to assist with moving books during the week prior to the sale, unpacking books for the event, and helping with various tasks throughout the sale. You can sign up on our website, give us a call, or speak with someone at the main desk.
324 Birds of Maine with Ethan Whitaker on Wednesday, August 19th at 5:30 Why would a successful Maine software developer in his early 60s close his laptop and spend an entire year chasing a little known birding record? In 2021, Ethan undertook a Maine Big Year, an unofficial contest to identify as many species of birds as possible with the geographical border of the state. Ethan’s Big Year took him to Aroostook county multiple times, where he climbed mountains, took dozens of boat trips, and drove over 60,000 miles. Ethan will talk about his many birding adventures and his books, Every Bird in Maine and Every Bird from Sea to Shining Sea. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
From the Children's Room
I am popping my head out of the children’s room to let you know that we have had a fun-filled reading experience this summer. As always, the library’s vision is to go beyond books. We are excited to announce a new program called Bumps & Babies that is a collaboration with Maine Health and other York County agencies.
We will be celebrating World Breastfeeding Week by hosting a Bumps & Babies Kickoff on August 3rd from 9:45-11:15am. This event is for Parents & Caregivers who are expecting or in postpartum, and their babies. There will be helpful resources from various community partners and raffles with fun giveaways! The regular Baby Rhyme Time program will also be going on at 10 and 11 that morning.
Our Fall schedule will include the Bumps & Babies program on the first and third Mondays of each month from 9:45- 11:15. Each week will feature a professional from the community who can give attending parents direction and information about community resources.
