WELCOME PASTOR TROZZO!
This past weekend, our congregation voted to call Rev. Wendolyn Trozzo as our next Pastor.  We were excited to meet her this past Saturday evening at the live, ZOOM "Meet And Greet", and to see her preside and preach at last Sunday's live, ZOOM church service.
Thank you to all our members who attended and remained signed in for the entire Congregational Meeting.  There were 145 of us attending with a yes vote of 139. A quorum of 91 members was required, and we certainly exceeded that number as well as the 2/3 "yes vote" needed to call a pastor!
Pastor Wendolyn will officially begin her tenure at Lord Of Life on Tuesday, September 1st.
We also welcome Pastor Wendolyn's family: husband, Pastor Eric, and children Dante and Caedmon.  After about a two month stay in an apartment in Moorestown, the family will reside in Shamong.  Pastor and Eric will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary September 2nd!

Discussions To Reopen The Lord Of Life Campus
August 21st LifeLines Update:

Sandy O'Neal and Rick Krause reported to the Editors that the Task Force has accomplished its mission and submitted a report to the Church Council.  At the August 10th Council meeting, there was a review of the suggestions in the report, but no final decision has been made regarding changes to our current worship format.
Council and Staff have been focused on calling a new Pastor, and now, with one called, we will begin some focused planning for how and when we return to Worship on the grounds.  Having a Called Pastor enables that planning to take shape. A Pastor is ultimately responsible for Worship as defined by the Constitution, and her input of ideas will be a welcomed addition in the planning process.  Once our new Pastor has joined us, there will be a special Council meeting at which a plan will be formulated.  More news on the process will be featured in future editions of LifeLines.
COVID-19 is dynamic, and lives are at risk. We will need volunteers, and they will need to be trained.  There is still much work to do.
On behalf of the entire congregation, thanks to all members of the Task Force for their outstanding effort!

(Members of this task force, led by Rick Krause and Sandy O'Neal, are:  Dr. Alan and Cheryl Dennison, Joyce Harper, Lu Hourihan, Fran Jones, Kim Mattson, Janell Reich, Breanne Tomlinson, and Dennis Yates.)

A Message From Breanne Tomlinson, Director Of Children And Youth Ministries:

August 21st LifeLines Update

BFF And Senior High Youth
Hi Everyone,

I wanted to reach out and give you an update about our BFF program for this fall.  Letters will go out this week with a tentative schedule and registration form.  We will begin BFF on Sunday, September 13th from 10:00 -10:45 AM outdoors on the church campus.  In order to keep in line with safety protocols, we will be having smaller groups, all classes will be spaced apart to ensure proper distancing, hand sanitizer will be administered, masks will be required (and available if needed), and we will adhere to all safety rules.  Take time to look through the letter, and fill out the registration form.
We are seeking helpers for the younger BFF children. If you are comfortable volunteering about an hour of your time to help with the young ones, please contact me by email.  Youth grades 9 - 12 are also welcome to be part of this ministry!  A link to my email is below.

Senior High Youth will be meeting on Sunday, September 13th from 3:00-5:00 PM, outdoors on the church campus.  We will be dying t-shirts, playing corn-hole, and meeting the new 9th graders.  Please be assured that we will be following all safety regulations involving proper distancing, hand sanitizing, and mask wearing.  Masks will be available to those who need one.
++++++

For both events, safety is important, so please know that we will change or adapt as necessary.  I appreciate all of your support, and I hope that we will be able to meet up again.  Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.  A link to my email is below.

Project LOL::

 Kitchen Painting In Progress

Painting of the kitchen has begun!  Some wall areas have been completed, others require a touch-up coat.  The trim and doors will also be painted.
Along with the painting, spackling was done as needed, and a repair made to the area in the wall where the intercom unit had been.
Due to the Blood Drive, work was halted to prevent paint odor from being present in Fellowship Hall.  Work will continue next week.

  Support For Bridge Of Peace
August 21st LifeLines Update

Gift Cards For School Supplies

Due to the Covid-19 situation, there will be a change as to how Lord of Life members can provide support to children in need of school supplies.  This year, you can help by purchasing a $25 Walmart Gift Card which will go toward this cause.  The children will be remote learning, but school supplies are still needed by them to accomplish their lessons.  If you are donating a gift card, please contact Betty Mastrillo who will make arrangements for picking up your gift card.  A link to her email is below.
Our collection of food and toiletries is continuing. The special appeal for toiletry items such as the small bar soap, small shampoos, tooth brushes, tooth paste, wipes, disposable razors, etc. remains in place.
A black container to deposit your donations has been placed by the entry way to the FDC/Grace Place Building at the church campus.  It is near to the one for the Christian Caring Center and is labeled for Bridge of Peace.  All food should be non-perishable and will not need refrigeration prior to opening.
A list of other needed items can be found in a previous LifeLines issue.  A link is provided here:

Thank you to all who have contributed!

Thank You Donors!
On this past Tuesday, August 18th, another blood drive was held at Lord of Life.  Twenty-four (24) units of blood were collected which will impact seventy-two (72) lives.  If you donated blood, your COVID-19 antibody test results will be available on the Red Cross Blood Donor APP in about 14 days.
Thanks to all who gave blood and to our organizers, Bill Dreisbach and Lu Hourihan, and those who assisted:  Jack Gordon, Sue Dreisbach, and Carolyn and James Cuviello!

A Thank You The Red Cross:

Thank you all so much for hosting an additional drive for us! It is most appreciated. I may ask you to do so again, unfortunately, our school drives are up in the air due to the virus. We will need drives to replace all those lost units of blood.
Thank you!

Grace Place Preschool Registrations

Although the Grace Place Preschool is not in session due to COVID-19, we are still accepting registrations for the 2020-21 school year. Please email Deborah DeMarco at
director@graceplacenj.com for a registration form. At this time, we will not be hosting any tours. An email link is below.  Thank you!

Continuing Your Contributions

Your continuing financial support is essential to maintain the Ministries of Lord Of Life. Your envelopes can be mailed to the church (1 Winchester Court, Tabernacle, NJ 08088) and Simply Giving remains in place.
Offerings can also be made via a secure website and cell phone app. More information about these ways to contribute can be found on the church's website.  The link is below.
Despite our building being closed, the work of the church is going on. Our Vice Pastor and the staff are actively engaged, and the need to pay bills and the mortgage continue. Prayerfully consider continuing with your regular contributions.

Stewardship Team News

The Stewardship Team will soon begin to plan for our fall season mailings and church services talks. Becoming part of the team can bring in ideas that will be most beneficial. Besides those functions, the team assists in the distribution of church envelopes (once a year) and mailing/distribution of contribution statements (three times a year). If you would like to be a part of our group, please contact the team leader, Jim Cuviello by email. A link is provided below.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.

30 Hidden Books Of The Bible

In the long paragraph below, the names of 30 books of the Bible can be found "hidden" in the text.  They may or may not be capitalized and some may be found in two or more consecutive words.  The book, LUKE, is in the fourth sentence.  It is shown in red print to help give you a start.  The solution will be in the next issue of LifeLines.

For a printable version of the paragraph:

There are 30 books of the Bible in this paragraph.  Can you find them?  This is a most remarkable puzzle.  It was found by a gentleman in an airplane seat pocket on a flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu, keeping him occupied for hours.  He enjoyed it so much, he passed it on to some friends.  One friend from Illinois worked on this while fishing from his john boat.  Another friend studied it while playing his banjo.  Elaine Taylor, a columnist friend, was so intrigued by it she mentioned it in her weekly newspaper column.  Another friend judges the job of solving this puzzle so involving, she brews a cup of tea to help her nerves.  There will be some names that are really easy to spot.  That's a fact.  Some people, however, will soon find themselves in a jam, especially since the book names are not necessarily capitalized.  Truthfully, from answers we get, we are forced to admit it usually takes a minister or a scholar to see some of them at the worst.  Research has shown that something in our genes is responsible for the difficulty we have in seeing the books in this paragraph.  During a recent fund raising event, which featured this puzzle, the Alpha Delta Phi lemonade booth set a new record.  The local paper, The Chronicle, surveyed over 200 patrons who reported that this puzzle was one of the most difficult they had ever seen.  As Daniel Humana humbly puts it, "The books are all right here in plain view hidden from sight."  Those able to find all of them will hear great lamentations from those who have to be shown.  One revelation that may help is that books like Timothy and Samuel may occur without their numbers.  Also, keep in mind, that punctuation and spaces in the middle are normal.  A chipper attitude will help you compete really well against those who claim to know the answers.  Remember, there is no need for a mad exodus.  There really are 30 books of the Bible lurking somewhere in this paragraph waiting to be found.  God Bless!

From The Editors:

YouTube Musical Selections:
We wanted to let all know how the musical links found on YouTube are selected.  A search is done for a particular piece of music.  One that also contains the lyrics is desirable.  The focus is on the song, the quality of the music, and the images in the video.
There is an effort to pick links that do not have advertisements, but that is becoming increasing difficult to do.  Advertisements are getting to be the norm with YouTube links.  The advertisement that appears is random, and they do rotate.  We cannot control if one is broadcast and what it will be.  Most can be stopped by clicking on "Skip Ad" after 5 seconds.  We do not endorse any advertisement that might appear.

A Christmas In August Song:
Here is a rendition of an anthem which our choir sang at a Christmas Eve service several years ago.  Merry and Blessed Christmas In August!

"...The angels said to [the shepherds], Do not be afraid - for see I am bringing you good news of great joy.  To you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord."
                                                 Luke 2:10-11 NRSV
