Our prayers are with our neighbors, first responders, and the entire Carondelet family throughout California—most especially our alumnae, families, and friends who are personally affected by the destructive fires around the greater Bay Area. From the entire Carondelet staff and faculty, we extend our sincerest hopes for safety, relief, and strength today and in the weeks to come.

Sisterhood Liturgy & Bracelets

Hey Frosh Cougars ~ This is a special week for you! We are looking forward to officially welcoming you to the Carondelet Sisterhood at our virtual Sisterhood Liturgy at the beginning of the Frosh Spotlight on Wednesday at 8:15 AM.

One of our many traditions at Carondelet is the Sisterhood Charm Bracelet. It is presented to each frosh student at the beginning of the school year during a special liturgy. These bracelets, along with their red gemstone and St. Joseph charms, symbolize your induction into the Carondelet Sisterhood. Throughout the next four years at Carondelet, you will be given many opportunities to open your heart and grow in heart, faith and courage. After some of your special Carondelet experiences, you will receive a new charm to add to your bracelet.

We will bless your Sisterhood Bracelets during the liturgy on Wednesday morning and they will be presented to you by our Campus Ministry team when you drive-thru campus for your supply pick up later that day.
Attendance Reminders

Please review these attendance reminders. If a student will miss class, for any reason, a parent/guardian must notify Ms. Malisa Meemari in the Attendance Office as soon as possible. Email is the preferred method of communication with Ms. Malisa. She can also be reached via the Attendance Hotline at (925) 686-5353 ext. 359. In addition to notifying Ms. Malisa, students are always expected to directly connect with their teachers.

After any medical appointment, please email a photo of the school excuse note or appointment verification notice to Ms. Malisa.

Excused absences include: school-sanctioned activities, illness, injury, medical appointments that cannot be made outside of class hours, family emergencies, and religious commitments. Personal business is not considered an excused absence.
Inside Flex Day: "Let's Talk About Clubs"

In our first inside look at Flex Day, we take you to “Let’s Talk About Clubs” where 250 students learned about the 45 clubs they can participate in at Carondelet. Students learned how they can find out more about specific clubs and join them while in distance learning. “We got, like, a thousand questions,” joked Student Activities Director Maggie Lettire ’13. “But I think we were able to answer all of them in the chat and in video.”

Typically Carondelet hosts Club Fair during the first few weeks of school. In lieu of Club Fair, September will now be a month-long club showcase! Each club will create a website profile with info, video and pics, history, and ways for any students to join. We know clubs, activities, honor societies, and athletic teams are ways that every student can enhance her personal development and sense of purpose. And we’ll continue creating ways for students to interact and share their passions.
CSF Fall Membership Drive

Hello Cougar families! It's time to celebrate those efforts with academics and service. The CSF (California Scholarship Federation) fall membership drive will occur starting Monday, August 24, though Friday, September 4. Those that are interested will use their spring 2020 grades to qualify. Use this G-form to apply. If you are a frosh, seeking associate membership with a Junior CJSF certificate, you will need to upload an image on the form. There will be no applications accepted after 4:00 PM on Friday September 4! If you have any questions, please contact Merrilee Silveira.
Fathers Club Meeting

All current and alumnae dads and father figures are welcome to attend the first Fathers Club meeting of the year. The virtual meeting will be Thursday, August 27 at 5 PM. The Fathers’ Club is open to all Carondelet dads, so you’re already a member!

Join us to learn about the mission of the club, meet other dads, get advice on helping your daughters through their distance learning experience, and hear about future events planned for the group. To get the Zoom meeting login details, please email Ann Schiffenhaus, Director of Alumnae Engagement.
Caring by Collecting Clothes

Senior and captain of the Varsity Soccer team, Jordyn Young ’21, gives back with the help of her teammates, donating more than 300 personal items to the Hall Closet at Juvenile Hall. Jordyn has organized the collection hundreds of items including coats, clothing, shoes, blankets, bedding, baby items, and more.

Jordyn and the soccer team won the CIF Northern California Championship last year. Soon after that achievement, shelter-in-place orders came down. She reflects, “COVID-19 has put into perspective the real challenges being faced in our community and the reality that you are never too young to make a difference. You are never too young to be the difference.” Read the full story.
Introducing Library Curbside Service
Our librarians are happy to introduce curbside service for students while we are in distance learning. Email Ms. Koski and she will bag your library and/or textbook items for pick-up outside Ms. Malisa's Attendance Office. Ms. Koski is on campus 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM to assist with books, resources, and research and is always happy to answer questions! Students can also place requests directly through our Library Catalog by logging in with their school username and password.
Due to our current weather conditions and poor air quality we may be required to cancel training camps and sessions at any time. According to the Air Quality Index an unhealthy index of 151 will be our determining number. Coaches will be in communication with their athletes if workouts change. We will also communicate via our social media platforms by 2:30 PM when necessary.

There are several actions that families need to complete in order to volunteer or for their student-athlete to participate in Athletics. Please review the Athletics Family Checklist to start the process.
