This week Jesus is invited by a Pharisee to a Sabbath meal. At the meal, Jesus tells them a parable about humility. The other point He makes seems to be about receiving blessings in exchange for welcoming the poor. But, whenever Jesus tells a “straightforward parable,” there turns out to be more to it than there seems! What is Jesus saying about the connection between humility and welcoming the poor? And why is He saying it to the Pharisees at their dinner party?

Jesus, You invite us deeper into Your word, calling us further into relationship with You and one another. Ready our hearts and open our ears to the truth that You reveal in us. Amen.

Rally Day

We're kicking off the program year with our annual Rally Day! Here's what's happening and how you can be involved:

After 9 am worship: head to Fellowship Hall kitchen to help prepare the meal for Lazarus House.

After 10:30 am worship: We'll grill Ream's hot dogs, play Diemand football, and have fun on the kids' inflatable!

Anytime during the month of September: bring gas, Uber or Lyft gift cards ($20-$50) for those served by Mutual Ground, a GLC Mission Impact Partner. We'll hang the cards on the goal post for a touchdown! #generouslifeinChrist
