A native to Port-au-Prince, renowned poet Anthony Phelps is best known for his work Mon Pays que voici which has become a cult classic for generations of Haitians. Phelps latest book of poems, a personal anthology called Nomade je fus de tr�s vieille m�moire, was released earlier this year.

Josaphat-Robert Large
Poet & Actor
Actor and poet Josaphat-Robert Large's powerful words have made him a known name in Haitian literature. In 2002, his novel Les terres entour�es de larmes was awarded the Prix litt�raire des Car�bes. Large is a member of the Soci�t� des Gens de Lettres de France, of the Association des �crivains de langue fran�aise, and of PEN USA.

Ibi Zoboi
Poet & Author
Ibi Zoboi's short stories have been
anthologized in Dark Matter: Reading the Bones, Haiti Noir, and The Caribbean Writer among others. She's received grants in Literature & Writing from the Brooklyn Arts Council and is the recent winner of the Speculative Literature Foundation Travel Grant.

Jean-Dany Joachim 
Poet & Director
Jean-Dany Joachim writes poetry, short stories and recently completed a play titled "Your Voice Poet". He has directed the Sunset Poetry Series at Bunker Hill Community College for over ten years and , since 2001, has been the director of City Night Readings, a series featuring diverse poetic talents, writers and artists.

Jeffrey Dessources Poet & Professor
Born and raised in New York City, Jeffrey "MrJeffDess" Dessources received his BA and MA in English Literature from St. John's University and is the author of three books of poetry. His latest We Can See Your Privates (grew bab books, 2011) investigates the separation between the public and private lives of the Haitian community through the poetic form of the haiku.

Jany Tomba, model-turned-artist-turned-scholar and poet, focuses her words on themes of self-identity and home. Having researched early Haitian Krey�l linguistics at the CUNY Grad Center, her perspective emphasizes the relationship between language and "innate knowledge of our ancestry."

Jean-Avin Fran�ois, PhD, Associate Professor of French and Creole in the Department of Foreign Languages, ESL, and Humanities, is a poet, novelist, and scholar. His fiction is published under the pseudonym A20.
