Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,
When we pause to reflect on some events in the world today, the earthquake tragedy in Haiti, people fleeing from Afghanistan, and those struggling to recover from Covid-19, we are inspired to think about our priorities. For most of us, our most important priority is family. It is with much sadness that we are saying goodbye to three members of our staff but I have joy in my heart knowing they are leaving because it is what is best for their families at this time.
Our third-grade teacher, Mrs. Shannon Hynes, had an emergency that has taken her family back to New York. I know her students will miss her and we wish her well on her journey back home. Mrs. Becky Miller will be leaving on Sept. 8 and we will miss her smiles and the caring she has shown for the students. Mrs. Jamie Stencel is also leaving and her last day is Sept. 17. We thank her for the contributions she has made to our school and the caring heart she shared with our students. Mrs. Stencel has shared a letter with our parents which you can read here.
Tomorrow is our first Jean Day. All students have received their Care for Creation T-shirt and should wear it to school tomorrow with either jeans, jean shorts (Bermuda length, no more than 2 inches above the knee), or PE shorts.
Thank you all for your continued support and I continue to pray for all our families.
Peace and Blessings,
Linda Umoh

COVID-19 REMINDERS
These are some Covid-19 Protocol reminders:
- If your child is not feeling well in the morning (upset stomach, sore throat, headache, etc.), please keep them home (even if they do not have a fever), monitor their symptoms, and contact their doctor if the symptoms do not improve.
- If your child comes to school and complains of any of these or other symptoms, parents will be called to pick up their child, contact your child's doctor, and/or get a Covid-19 test. Students will not be able to return to school unless they have a doctor's note or negative test result.
Please know that we do understand this can be challenging, but these are necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in our school. We are required to follow the guidance of the CDC and the Diocese of St. Petersburg. We ask for your understanding and patience.

TAKE A PEEK AT OUR
PRE K
PLAYGROUND
|
|
|
The preschool playground is going through a renovation. The parents and the teachers brainstormed what we would like to add or fix on the playground. We will be having a work party soon to accomplish the rest of the projects, but look at what has been donated so far. Thank you so much to the Farfan Family for the Mud Kitchen and the Daoud Family for the Tipi! The children were so excited to play with the new additions to the playground.
Thank you,
The Preschool Team

“Own the Avenue”
Own The Avenue is a year-round fundraiser for the PTCO and gives you a great way to give your child a shout-out for the school community to see! Birthdays, achievements, any positive vibes, and kudos are welcome, and they certainly make your student feel special!!
The sign is located on the corner of our school parking lot and will be viewed and celebrated for the entire week. A PTCO member will be responsible for putting up the sign and after the week is done, the sign will be sent home with your student for yours to keep or to reuse for a future week!
If you have an existing sign, the cost is $30 for the week. If we need to order a new sign, the cost is $50 for the week. Please make payments through the school's front office.

The Haal Pass allows our students to access public library resources with just their student ID number and Pin. Students will use their student ID number (from FACTS) and their password of 4321 to log into the HCPLC.org site. This allows them to check out physical copies of books as well as digital books, audiobooks, and any other materials available from the public library. Students can also use this account to check out ebooks on Overdrive or Libby, the digital reader programs used by the public library.
