Twenty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time - August 30, 2020
Please Join Our Parish Town Hall Meeting
Dear Friends,

Greetings form Fr. Saju!

As I shared with you before, we are already five months into this pandemic. We have been following County and State guidelines as a parish. We will continue to do the same for the well-being of all. Many of us have been grieving in one way or another. We had many instances were we could not celebrate the life of a deceased loved one in our parish. We also grieve the absence of family gatherings, hugs, meeting friends at school, gathering as friends, vacationing together and so on.

We, as a community of faith, should not allow our grieving and grievances to freeze us. So, as the disciples in the scripture, we too ask the the question - "Lord what shall we do?" Then we discover, that we can and we need to do more in creative ways to live out our faith. Let's Make a Difference Together! I know, many of you have great insights and wisdom. We want to hear from you. Please join me and the Pastoral Council for a virtual Parish Town Hall Meeting on Zoom on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at 7.00 PM. Let us meet each other to discuss about what we can and should do as a faith community in moving forward during this pandemic. Bring your ideas and inputs that will help us to live our faith, help others, and community.

Dr. Rosemary Ellmer has accepted to moderate the virtual town-hall and Claus Dahm has stepped in to provide the technical support. I thank them both.

We will be using the Holy Mass Zoom link for the Parish Town Hall.

Looking forward to seeing you virtually at the Parish Town Hall meeting,

Fr. Saju Joseph

Please Join Us!!!
We want to hear from you! Please join us via Zoom for a discussion about what we can and should be doing, as a faith community, in moving forward during this pandemic. Bring your ideas and input to help us live the faith by helping others and the community.

CONGRATULATIONS
SISTER THERESA MARIE HARRIS!!!
One of our long time parishioners, Sister Theresa Marie Harris entered the Daughters of Charity Community on Saturday, August 22, 2020. She will be continuing her journey in St. Louis. We wish her every blessing and look forward to when our paths cross again.
ART OF THE HEART

Max Amend, a youth and parishioner of St. Martin, is a musician that has found great joy in volunteering his time to perform at assisted living facilities, for the past few years, with friends from Bellarmine. In these difficult times, he has found a way to bring people together through music. He created a virtual concert series, through Bellarmine, that 30 students volunteered to participate in and 60 + Bay Area Assisted living facilities aired for their residents and clientele to view. As a parishioner here at St. Martin of Tours Max wanted to share his work with the community. You can watch the BCP virtual concert series HERE. Max and a couple classmates have grown from Bellarmine to creating an organization called Art of the Heart dedicated to providing comfort and connection through music.
FAITH IN ACTION
TO EMPOWER WOMEN IN THE CHURCH
AND THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

Two sources of hope and inspiration this summer: Image of the Living Light, from a saint, and the long quest for universal voting rights.

If today’s politics, plagues and natural disasters provoke anxiety, consider this: the life and times of Hildegard in 12th century Germany saw many parallels. She survived, thrived and was recognized as saint and doctor of the church in 2012. Her gifts included skills in medicine, music, liturgy, language, art and leadership.

In the parish website, we have children's Sunday Bulletin and activities posted for each Sunday. Every Sunday, there will be new activities corresponding to the readings posted. They are not only fun for children, but also help for their spiritual growth. It is a a fun way for Catholic kids to learn about the Faith every week. Parents, please download and share it with your children.

CATECHISTS NEEDED
St. Martin of Tours is currently in need of CCM (Children’s Catechetical Ministry) catechists. The CCM sessions are on Thursday evenings from 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM beginning in October. The sessions will be online with a re-evaluation of the process in December. We know your time is precious, but if you could give some of your time to teaching and modeling our Catholic faith to the next generation, you will be fulfilling your part of the Great Commandment. You don’t need any previous experience as a catechist. All you need is the love of Jesus and the willingness to share that love with others. You will be trained, and you may find yourself learning more about your faith along the way! If interested, please contact Lerma Simpson at (408) 294-8953 ext. 321 or at lerma.simpson@dsj.org
