...from the Pastor...
On September 16 I will celebrate 25 years since I was ordained to the ministry of Word and Sacrament. We will celebrate on September 20 at 10:30 Mass, with lunch after, and I hope you will join me in thanking God for this awesome, joy-filled, amazing ministry.
I am starting a fundraising project which I've named Pastor Patt's Period Project. It will help neighbors in Ridgefield and our surrounding communities access menstrual supplies with dignity and care. Many go quietly without basic products that keep them healthy and able to attend work, school and daily activities.
Your gift of $25 supports free period kits which will be distributed through coordination with our feeding ministries (food pantry and Loaves and Fishes) and Love In Action, our social ministry commity.
This fundraiser reflects our church's call to welcome, serve, and stand with those in need. Every donation will go towards purchasing pads, tampons, liners, and related essentials.

Recent cuts to food programs that benefit those who need them most make it essential that we contact our congressmen in Washington. Please contact each of these men in three ways: by snail mail (sample letter is on reverse side of this notice), e-mail, and by a phone call. Be sure to put in something personal in the messages. For the snail mail letter, it is important to write it in your own longhand writing. The message on email can be the same. The phone call may be shortened to just ask that the congressmen support food programs.
Then, please let Elizabeth Lowe (lowe.elizabeth@gmail.com) who you have contacted and in what manner so that she can report this to Bread for the World, the ELCA organization that tries to keep adequate food programs in place throughout the year.

Sunday School returns in the fall!
And parents, we need you! Two parents on Sunday morning, (9:15-10) to read a story, do a craft or sing a song, and give the children a snack. You will be giving our children the most important lesson of all - that they are loved by God, they are important to God and to the church, and that they are welcome!
Children of all ages are welcome.

THANK YOU to Sharla and George DeLawter, for their generous donation to the Pastor’s Discretionary fund.
They were able to make the donation using a distribution from their Roth IRA, which can be withdrawn from your account and designated to a nonprofit of your choice.
Qualified distributions from a Roth IRA are withdrawals of investment earnings that are completely free from federal income taxes and penalties.
This is a great help to the church, and it comes at no financial cost to the donor. Please prayerfully consider and remember the church in your designations, if you aren’t already.
