Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Kid Vestry

I’m Annie Marshak, and I’m the new Senior Warden of Kid Vestry. Here are my top five favorite things about Children’s Ministry:

1.We welcome everyone!

2. Kids get to help make decisions.

3. We have Children’s Chapel so kids don’t get bored during church.

4. We get to talk about our ideas in Formation – and we get to play too!

5. There are LOTS of kids, and it’s fun to make friends with kids from different schools.

I’m really excited about Kid Vestry this year. Kid Vestry is where a group of kids meet together to make decisions about what kids can do at our church. We have our own budget, and we can decide what we want to do with it. We can use our budget on outreach, formation, and evangelism. We had some really good ideas about what we want to do, so stay tuned to see what Kid Vestry does!

The 10:00 a.m. service premieres on YouTube at 9:45 a.m. and remains available afterwards. If you are worshiping virtually, you may follow along with the service bulletin. See the Church Calendar below for the complete Sunday schedule.

Ordination Reception

We are delighted to be hosting the ordination of priests for the Diocese of Virginia at The Falls Church on Saturday, September 9. As part of this there is a reception following the ordination for which we are asking for donations of food from all of the parishes involved in the ordination - sponsoring and receiving - as well as from our own members. You can sign up to provide one of the listed things, or to support the clean up following the service and reception here.

This is a very special day for those being ordained to the order of priesthood, we appreciate your support of them and the wider church.

All are welcome to join our choirs at The Falls Church.

The 9:00 a.m. service choir members meet at 8:15 a.m. in The Contemporary Church and learn the hymns and a simple choir anthem for that morning. A good ear and ability to match pitch are needed, along with a willingness to learn. Children (10+) are welcome too!

The 11:15 a.m. service choir rehearses on Thursday evenings, 7:00 -8:30 p.m. and meet in The Historic Church at 10:15 a.m. on Sundays. We explore a range of repertoire in the Anglican tradition, both new and old. Some choral experience and an ability to read music are helpful.

On Sunday, September 3, we continue with our summer schedule of a single service at 10:00 a.m. Nursery will be provided on Sundays throughout the summer. There will be no Children's Chapel or Children's Formation Classes until September 10.
