Greetings!
Thank you all for being so flexible with the heat last week! This week will be much cooler! The time trial was so awesome and the athletes did great. You can see the results on our website on the cross country page! This is where you can see all the meets and results! Son't forget to read this entire Newsletter, especcially the Coaches Corner!!
We are so excited to start our competition phase of the season!
PARENT MEETING - We will have a quick parent meeting on Tuesday at 6:15 to make sure we are ready for the first meet!
Our first race on Saturday will be at Central Park on fields 9/10! We will have a tent set up, please look for the Storm flag! This race is a pre-season competition with the 17 other VYC teams, and we will have a 4K open community race that run with the Youth and Intermediate race if you would like to see how much you have improved too! Let go Coaches and Parents!
We will register all Storm athletes for all meets, so you do not need to do anything!! All parents or coaches that would like to do the 4K open race you can register at the tent Saturday morning or at the meet. The cost for the 4K race is $15.00 this a fundraiser race for our VYC Conference. There will be medals for the first 3 male and female athletes, and ribbons for the 4th-8th place runners. Please see below for the race schedule!
This is a great race for the beginning runners to get comfortable with racing and it is very exciting for them.
Parents can bring Umbrellas/ temts, chairs/ blankets /tarps to sit on. We all sit together in our team area!
Our Conference and our team is an all volunteer organization and we rely only on parents and volunteers to help conduct the meets. We will need volunteers to help give out tags and work the finish line this week. We also need a parents to bring Team tents to the meet!
Here is what we need this week:
Team Tents - I am looking for parents who can transport the tents and tarps to and from the meets. We need them by 7:00 am each week and we will end at about 11:00 most weeks. It works out well if we can get a Gremlin parent to bring them and a Youth parent to take them home and then swithch during the week.
Course set up -7:00 am - help set upo the starft and finish line area - 6 people
Tents - bring tents and set up finish line -6 people
Races -Finish Line -help guide athletes in the finish line chute
Rabbits to lead the races( bike ok) Turtles parents to follow the last runners in each race ( parents will not be allowed to run on the course during the races with their children)
Clean up - 4 people, help clean up and load tents

At this meet girls and boys in the same age group will run together
Proper Practice and Meet Attire - All athletes should have on good running shoes, light shorts, and loose fitting tank or t-shirt, No midriff running tops or sports bra. Please be sure that shirts covers the torso's for girls, and boys should have on a shirt.
Athletes need to wear the full Storm uniform for all meets! Shorts must be plain black, NO soccer or basketball shorts.
Meet One Information - This week we start our competitive Season. This is a Pre-Season meet that is fun and good for all, especially new runners! For this week only we will run the boys and girls of the same age together. Although this is not an official meet it will prepare the athletes for the distance they will be racing. We will always register the athletes in all races, so you do not need to do anything, and all fees are included in your registration fee already. For this meet we also encourage, parents and coaches to sign up and run the 4K. the fee is $15.00, come test your fitness level and race with the athletes!! This is our only team fundraiser!
Volunteers- We will teach you how to help volunteer for the meets. Each week we will have a volunteer duty and will need about 10 parents to help us. We ask you to volunteer for at least one of the meets, it is fun and easy!!

8:00 -Sub Gremlin and Gremlin warm up 2k - 8:30 race starts
8:15-Bantams warm up 3K-8:50 race starts
8:40- Juniors warm up -3K- 9:15 race starts
9:00 *youth and Intermediates,Adult warm up4K 9:35 race starts
