2021 Competitive Housing Credit Applications Due August 20, 2020
The Universal Funding Application (UFA) for the 2021 competitive Housing Credit funding round is currently available. Applications are due by 12 p.m. ET on Thursday, August 20, 2020.
The following funding sources are available to blend with Housing Credits:
- HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) - $1 million
- Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF) - $1.5 million
Applicants should ensure that project applications are named with the actual property name that will be on the project sign at placed in service; do not use just the location or development team as the application name.
As a reminder, Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) will not accept any application-related questions - other than technical issues related to the UFA system - within the seven-day period prior to the application submission deadline.
Applicants seeking a waiver to any KHC policy or requirement must submit a waiver request and pay a fee. A separate waiver must be submitted for each KHC policy or requirement for which a waiver is being requested - two or more waivers may not be combined into a single waiver request form. Waivers requested prior to application submission must utilize the Waiver Request Form and must be submitted no less than seven (7) days prior to the application submission deadline to receive consideration. Fees for pre-application waiver requests must be added to the application fee and paid at application submission. KHC Announces Hancock Will Replace KY Green
KHC has been searching for software replacement for Weatherization administration, and we are pleased to announce that we awarded the contract to Hancock. Over the next few months, we will be working with Hancock to migrate the existing system (KY Green) to their platform. We will be requesting information from weatherization subgrantees at different levels of the migration. Please return requested information as soon as you can to help us make this process flow more efficiently. We will discuss this new venture and answer questions regarding the change during the weatherization virtual TA visits. HUD Extends Housing Counselor Certification Deadline to August 1, 2021
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has extended the deadline for housing counselors to become HUD certified to Sunday, August 1, 2021. As stated in the interim final rule posted to the Federal Register on August 5, the extension is needed because the pandemic caused the shutdown of the testing centers where housing counselors take the certification examination, thus preventing a large number of housing counselors from becoming certified by the original deadline. Because maintaining the original deadline would result in a loss of Federal funding for some HUD-approved housing counseling agencies and loss of the ability to provide counseling that is required or provided in numerous HUD programs, including HOME, HUD decided to extend the deadline.
