Hurricane Preparedness Expo Scheduled for Tomorrow!

Gloucester County’s Emergency Management Department and partners are gearing up to host a Hurricane Preparedness Expo on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Gloucester Home Depot Store, 6921 Waltons Lane.

The Expo is being held to coincide with Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday, where patrons can purchase hurricane and emergency preparedness items without paying sales tax. Saturday’s Expo will not only provide a wealth of information from the County regarding what one should do to prepare for a storm but will also offer plenty of refreshments and activities for children.

Special visitors to the event will be the LifeEvac helicopter and members of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc. with various apparatus. IdentAKid will also be on hand, specializing in child safety.

There will be snow cones, popcorn, and a limited number of hot dogs. There will also be special preparedness kits for children to take home and learn how they can play a big part in preparing for emergencies.

We hope to see you there!
Gloucester Launches New Broadband Information Hub

Gloucester County has launched a new “one-stop shop” for citizens to obtain information on broadband availability and connectivity news in the locality. The hub can easily be accessed through a link on the County’s website (www.gloucesterva.info). The site details Gloucester’s strides to leverage all opportunities - allocation, grants, outside funding, partnerships, and regional collaboration - to provide broadband access to everyone in the community.

The hub is a step toward fulfilling one of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors’ strategic priorities, which is to provide all residents of Gloucester County options for access to unrestricted, fast, and reliable broadband service.
