On Friday, August 14, we’ll host our first day of classes for the school year. All classes will meet for 45 minutes. This first day is meant to be a welcome check-in where teachers introduce the course and review class-specific expectations.

Beginning of the Year Updates

Main Office Working Hours

The Main Office will be closed through August 11 as our Faculty and Staff participate in our beginning-of-school-year Retreat and Professional Development days. The office will reopen on Wednesday, August 12, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Spirit wear orders can be picked up at Student Orientation.

Shuttle Service Start Date

The first day of service for the 580/680 and Hwy 24 Morning Shuttles will be Friday, August 14. Test communications for bus alerts will go out on Monday, August 10. Please make sure you have opted in to communications by texting YES to 79041.

School Store Orders

Please pick up all your School Store orders at Orientation. All orders are located in the Convent by the stairs. Purchases are in alphabetical order. Contact Proforma if you cannot find your order.

Lunch: MySchoolBucks by Epicurean

Epicurean provides high-quality, healthy meals for Carondelet’s students, faculty, and staff to purchase. Current students who have a MySchoolBucks account can add money to their account now. New students can add money to their account once they have received their student school ID number (in early August). Follow these instructions and select "Carondelet High School (Concord)" from the dropdown menu in MySchoolBucks. If you have any questions setting up your account, please contact Epicurean directly by emailing General Manager Candace Barnes. New this year, we recommend that all students upload a photo to their MySchoolBucks profile page. This helps ensure account security when students are checking out at the cafe.

Senior Shirts and Sweatshirts: Pick Up at Orientation

If you ordered a t-shirt and/or sweatshirt, we will distribute them at Senior Orientation (Thursday, August 13) in Room 27.

If you did not order a shirt or sweatshirt, we have a limited number of extras. Once we have distributed all the ordered shirts and sweatshirts, we will put them back on the School Store for purchase.

Senior Sunrise is the First Day of School!

Join Senior Council at the Chapel lawn on Friday, August 14 to ring in the new school year with music and bagels! We’ll provide picnic blankets for everyone to sit on. We’ll start at 7:00 AM!

We Hope to See You at Frosh Family Social

Class of 2030 students and parents! Our Frosh Family Social is this Friday, August 14, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. We will begin promptly at 6:00 PM in the Garaventa Center for our liturgy. We look forward to seeing you there! Please email Lesley Schooler ’96 if you didn’t RSVP.

Schedule Changes

A limited schedule-change window will be available during Orientation and through Friday, August 21. This window is intended for significant academic concerns or errors, not preference-based changes. Because schedules are built carefully around graduation requirements, course requests, staffing, and class size, most schedules should be considered final.

Students requesting a change must follow the directions in the Course Advising Hub on Schoology exactly, including submitting the required form before scheduling an appointment. Appointments made without a completed form will be canceled.

Please note that we cannot accommodate requests to rearrange the order of classes, change teachers, or place students with friends. All math changes require approval from the Math Department Chair. Requests to move a senior English course or add an AP or Honors class will require proof of eligibility and completion of all assigned summer work.

Students who begin an AP course and determine that the level is not the right fit may request to drop the course through Friday, August 28. Requests made after Friday, August 21 must first be discussed with and approved by the teacher.

Academic Technology Reminder: School-Issued iPads Only

The iPad will be the primary, required device for daily classroom use across all grade levels. All students will use their iPads during the school day. Laptop carts will be provided for specific computer-intensive classes. Seniors may also bring a personal laptop for supplemental use, but may only use their laptops with explicit teacher approval, and some multi-grade classes may restrict laptop use even for seniors. All on-campus standardized tests (AP, PSAT, Digital SAT) will require iPads. Be sure to charge your iPad daily, and consider using a reliable keyboard.

The Carondelet Used Uniform Sale is This Week!

The Carondelet Parents Guild will host our annual Used Uniform Sale on Wednesday, August 12, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. The sale will have a variety of spirit wear, athletic wear, polos, sweaters, and more. This is a very popular event, and you should plan to get there early to get in line.

First Parents Guild Meeting of the Year - Wed. Aug. 26

All Carondelet parents and guardians are welcome to attend our Parents Guild meetings. It's a great way to meet other parents, find out what we are doing, and how you can be a part of it. Our first meeting will feature a Carondelet Parent Panel to answer your questions. Coming to a meeting will also earn Freshman Families one point. First Fathers Club Meeting in September

Start the 2026–27 school year right with our first meeting on Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 PM in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation. Father-Daughter Valkyries Basketball Game

Members of our Fathers Club have organized a father-daughter outing to watch a Valkyries basketball game on Friday, September 18, at 7:00 PM. The price is $50 per person, and you can sign up today to secure your seats.

Welcome back Cougar Athletes! Fall sports tryouts begin tomorrow, Monday, August 10. Here is everything you need to know for tryouts, athletic clearance, and volunteering:

Fall Sports Tryout Dates and Schedules

Tryouts will take place August 10–14. View the tryout schedule for dates and locations of each fall sports tryout, or visit our athletics website for more information. 

Athletic Registration 

Any student interested in participating in a fall sport must complete the Athletic Registration process prior to trying out for a sport. Step-by-step instructions to complete the athletic registration can be found on our athletics website. Please note, only students who have been cleared will be permitted to try out. For questions or help with athletic registration, please contact Head Athletic Trainer Chad Abbott.

Parent Volunteers 

Most teams will need parent volunteers to help with logistics throughout the season. Parent volunteer roles include team parent, driver, chaperone, team event/dinner coordinator, etc. Parent volunteers must complete the Volunteer Clearance process. 

Fall Sports Night 

All athletes who are rostered on a fall sports team and one parent/guardian are required to attend our Fall Sports Night on Monday, August 17, 6:30–8:00 PM on the Main Campus. This is an opportunity to hear from our Athletic Director, Alisa Payne, and from team coaches. Student-athletes will be attending an Athletics Workshop with a special guest speaker in the Garaventa. We will also have limited spirit wear for purchase from 6:00 to 6:30 PM outside the gym.

All Students:

• College reps will start visiting Carondelet and De La Salle campuses in August. All juniors and seniors are able to attend these presentations with teacher approval and filled out pass at least 48 hours in advance. Make sure to check Maia Learning weekly for up-to-date information on visits and to register.
• We are hosting the Out-of-State College Fair on Monday, August 24, from 2:15 to 3:30 PM, where colleges will be on campus to introduce their schools and answer questions.
• The Jesuit Excellence College Tour (JET) will be on Tuesday, September 22, from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Stop by and learn more about Jesuit colleges. 
• Throughout the year, College Counseling will have a variety of grade-level-specific programming. Dates and details for all future college-related events will be on the College Counseling calendar, in the weekly eNews, and in the College Counseling Weekly Update emails. 

Seniors:

• Seniors will receive important college information during College Kickstart on Wednesday, August 12 (all Kickstart information is available on Schoology in the Class of 2027 College Hub) and at the mandatory Cougar U College Workshop on Friday, August 21, at 1:40 PM.

A full house gathered at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco for a beautiful Mass celebrating Clint’s remarkable life of service, generosity, and commitment to others. Words of remembrance were shared by his wife, Janet; his two daughters, Jill and Ava; and former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, each offering a glimpse into the profound impact Clint had on his family, friends, and the broader community.
