MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Celebrating Impact, Staying Informed, and Dancing Into Summer

It was such a joy seeing so many of you at Boot Scootin’ with BOMA! From the country attire to the line dancing, you brought the energy - and we’re keeping that momentum going with more great events this summer. Don’t miss the always popular Women in CRE, BOMA at the Bowl featuring Chicago, and the newly added BBQ, Brews & Bullseyes!

We’re also proud to offer high-impact professional development with upcoming sessions like Road Map from Property to Asset Management and CAMS Mastery - part of our ongoing commitment to supporting your career growth.

For those who want to stay ahead of the curve, be sure to check out BOMA on the Frontline. Our blog offers timely insights on legislation, safety, real estate trends, and more. It’s your go-to source for understanding the policies and news that impact your business and our industry.

I’m also thrilled to share that BOMA/GLA has won the 2025 Summit Award from the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) - the highest national honor for associations. This award recognizes outstanding community impact, and we earned it for our Second Wave Support: Fire Recovery Donation Drive.

While this effort wasn’t made for recognition, being honored for our members’ collaboration, generosity, and service is deeply meaningful. It took all of us - including support from other BOMA locals and the staff leadership of Tonya Burns and Alma Lanche - to make it happen. Tonya, Alma, and I will proudly represent you in Washington, D.C. this fall to accept the award on behalf of our entire membership.

We are BOMA/GLA - and your impact matters.

~ Michele Ware

Member Spotlight

Get to Know Juan Rangel, President, Bloom Works Landscape

Why did you join BOMA/GLA?

I wanted to connect with other business owners, meet professionals from different trades, and build relationships that could lead to future collaborations. It's always valuable to have trusted contacts you can reach out to when needed.

What advice would you give to someone new to the industry?

This industry rewards those who care. Pay attention, take pride in the small details, and keep learning every day. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. There’s no shame in not knowing, only in not trying to improve. We’re building more than landscapes - we’re building trust, craftsmanship, and a reputation.

What's a personal or professional project are you working on right now?

On a personal note, I’m teaching my 16-month-old son to be creative. We’re exploring colors with chalk and paintbrushes. Watching him discover art is amazing.

Who inspires you?

My dad. Watching him work in landscaping is what inspired my career. He taught me the value of craftsmanship and the pride of seeing a project through from start to finish.

Best restaurant you've ever been to?

Sonney's BBQ Shack Bar & Grill in South Lake Tahoe. We went on a trip with my then fiancée (now my wife) and our dog. They even let our dog inside, and she loved the brisket as much as we did.

The fun and engaging events hosted by BOMA/GLA have made networking enjoyable and meaningful, allowing me to build lasting relationships and continually learn from others.

BOMA/GLA has been a cornerstone of my professional development, and I’m incredibly grateful for the growth, connections, and experiences it has provided."
