BOMA Unites with Building Skills Partnership Providing Programs for Low-Wage Workers

BOMA “Builds Together”, creates opportunities for members to learn more about Building Skills Partnership (BSP) programs and how to offer these educational opportunities to property service workers (janitors). By collaborating with BSP, BOMA aims to empower its members with essential information on opportunities available to these hardworking individuals while also shedding light on the unique barriers they face in their professional and personal lives.

Emerging Leaders and Rising Stars Come Together and Work for Cuddles from Sugar!

Our Emerging Leaders and Rising Stars volunteered last month at Annenberg PetSpace. PetSpace is a unique community space featuring an interactive place for pet adoptions, an education center, and a leadership institute.

Our young professionals and mentors spent time networking, enjoyed an early dinner, and topped the evening off with a little hard work; all in hopes of the huge cuddle payoff from Sugar. Thank you to April Weber, Knight Commercial, for joining in and sponsoring dinner.

Sugar was excited to meet our volunteers as she greeted each one of them and thanked them for their hard work. This volunteer experience was a rich and rewarding way to build and strengthen the BOMA/GLA community.

Early on in his career, Renee learned the importance of building personal relationships to overcome challenges and bridge gaps. His BOMA/GLA membership has helped him in his career by staying up to date on industry news by attending Power Hours as well as subscribing to regional newsletters. His involvement in these activities has proven invaluable, equipping him with insights and knowledge, and helping him excel in his career.

Rene’ had plans to become a pilot, yet he landed in sales. When he’s not working, René values his leisure time and cherishes the company of his family. He enjoys vacationing in Cancun, watching his son play baseball, and engaging in activities that bring him closer to his loved ones.

Rene serves on the BOMA by the Sea Committee.

Defending LA's Real Estate Future

On September 26, the lawsuits challenging the Measure ULA Transfer tax will get their first hearing in Court. Challenges to the tax, which is already crippling the local real estate market, range from disputes over its constitutional fairness to whether or not it is even allowed as part of the City charter. These preliminary hearings will be critical in defining the future of commercial real estate in Los Angeles, and BOMA/GLA supports legal efforts to overturn them.
